:112 <br /> ADJOURNED SESSION - 1994 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br /> MARCH 30, 1994 <br /> The meeting was called to order by Moderator Margery M. <br /> Battin, at 8:05 p.m. , in Cary Memorial Hall. <br /> A quorum was present. <br /> The Moderator outlined procedures for the members and the <br /> large number of citizens present. <br /> ARTICLE 2 REPORTS <br /> 8:12 p.m. Richard White presented his report on the <br /> budget. <br /> Questions were asked to which Mr. White responded. <br /> 8:38 p.m. George Burnell, Appropriation Committee, <br /> stated the committee's thoughts on regionalization, <br /> contractual services and privitization. <br /> 'ARTICLE 4 OPERATING BUDGET <br /> 8:42 p.m. Presented by Selectman Dailey. <br /> MOTION: That the following amounts be appropriated for <br /> the ensuing fiscal year and be raised in the <br /> tax levy except where a transfer is indicated <br /> Final they shall be provided by such a transfer. <br /> Adoption <br /> P. 132 The Moderator read the following: <br /> Education <br /> 1100 Lexington Public Schools $34,923,877 <br /> (and further that Section 83 of Chapter 71 of the <br /> Acts of 1993, as amended, which provides for an <br /> early retirement incentive for members of the <br /> Massachusetts Teacher's Retirement System, is <br /> hereby accepted. ) <br /> (And further that the School Department is <br /> authorized to enter into equipment <br /> lease/purchase agreements from time to time <br /> provided that each such agreement is subject <br /> to annual appropriations. ) <br /> 8:43 p.m. John Oberteuffer, School Committee, spoke. <br /> 8:50 p.m. The Moderator recognized Jeffrey Young, School <br /> Superintendent, who outlined the budget further. <br /> 9: 11 p.m. Richard Howe, Pr 7, made the following motion: <br /> MOTION: that line item 1100 of the budget be <br /> amended to read $35,122,877 <br /> 9: 14 p.m. John Oberteuffer, School Committee, stated <br /> that a majority of the committee opposed the amendment. <br /> 9: 15 p.m. Selectman Fenn stated board opposition. <br /> 9: 19 p.m. Christina Coughlin, Appropriation Committee, <br /> stated that a majority of the committee was opposed. <br /> There were comments for and against from members. <br /> Following a voice vote at 9:43 p.m. , the Moderator <br /> declared the motion not adopted. <br />
