LEXINGTON BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> Tuesday, May 19, 2020 <br /> 5:30 P.M. <br /> Conducted by Remote Participation <br /> Board of Health Members in Attendance: <br /> Wendy Heiger-Bernays, PhD, Burt Perlmutter, M.D., John J. Flynn, David Geller, M.D., Susan <br /> Wolf-Fordham, J.D. <br /> Office of Public Health Attendees: <br /> Kari Sasportas, Public Health Director <br /> Francis Dagle, Public Health Assistant <br /> Robin Chapell, Public Health Staff <br /> Speakers: <br /> Julie Hackett, Superintendent of Lexington Public Schools <br /> Ashley Wenger, Farmers Market Manager <br /> Documents: <br /> Wendy Heiger-Bernays, PhD, called the meeting to order at 5:31 PM. The BOH welcomed its <br /> new member, Susan Wolf-Fordham. <br /> The board reviewed the Community Health Report; <br /> Kari Sasportas, Health Director,provided the board with a state issued recommendation for local <br /> boards of health to enforce orders set by each organization. The Health Director discussed the <br /> contents of this document, particularly with phased opening within the town. <br /> Kari Sasportas, Health Director,provided the BOH an update with the town's current EDS plan. <br /> This plan will have alterations resulting from the pandemic. Vaccination clinics will be closely <br /> tied to this plan, and discussion of clinics are currently being reviewed with the state and town <br /> management. <br /> Dr. Julie Hackett, Superintendent of Lexington Public Schools, met with the BOH to discuss an <br /> evolving plan to reopen schools, based on state recommendation. The BOH will work closely <br /> with the Superintendent as plans are released for reopening. <br /> Environmental Health report was reviewed and the following cases were discussed; <br /> Kari Sasportas, Health Director,provided the BOH with order to suspend permitting within the <br /> town. The BOH emphasized the concern for capacity to process permitting, when there is a need <br /> for focus on COVID-19 efforts. Melissa Batitte, Recreation Department Director, provided <br /> updates for permitting camps as state guidelines have been provided. After some discussion the <br /> BOH voted unanimously to allow the permitting portal to be open to food establishments, pools, <br /> rDNA, and camps. It was the recommendation of the BOH that staff assess the need for permit <br /> approval on a case by case basis. <br />
