Minutes of meeting held on Thursday, February 11th, 2021

First, we reviewed and approved the January meeting minutes.
Next, Regina recapped our Valentine's Day project, members had 10 cards and wrote personalized notes
to seniors at local nursing homes. Members thought it was helpful to have a guideline of what to say.
Isabella Barrett mentioned Best Buddies, a high school club, did similar Valentine's Day cards for seniors
but they were more personal because they were homemade. Maybe an idea for next year would be to
make something ourselves. Shannon contributed that the coordinators at the nursing homes were very
excited to give the cards out to their seniors.
Katie talked about a potential upcoming project which would be the eyeglass cleaning. We would have an
assembly line set up at the C & W on Saturday, March 6th from 12-4. The following people said they
would be interested in going; Marilyn Swinger, Regina Tashjian, Katie DeVine, Skylar Spencer, Madelyn
Lucente, Payten Campbell, Serena Caira, Rebecca Wilkinson, Duncan Maloney, Elena Sabin, Carolyn
Lane, Ava Tamaro, Kennice Brennan, Ella Thomas, Ella Lucente, Avery Cutler, Ipek Kendercioglu, Max
DiCerbo, Camelia Attassi, Matthew Favazzo, Neeka Pirooz, Nicholas Kelm, Annabel Cincotta, Andrew
Lawrence, Sophia Lupone, Adelina Favazzo, Isabella Barrett
Annabel presented a new committee being formed within LYC to deal with the logistics and ideas for the
"You've Been Flocked" flamingo event which will take place in May or June. The following members
make up the Flamingo Planning Committee; Skylar Spencer, Elena Sabin, Ipek Kendercioglu, Marilyn
Swinger, Madelyn Lucente, Duncan Maloney
For an upcoming spring even we also discussed the Blaze Pizza fundraiser that was brought up at an
earlier meeting. Madelyn Lucente promoted a potential Virtual Patriot's Day event which requires student
participation which LYC members will likely be involved in.
Thomas Romano contributed that seniors have been having trouble booking vaccine appointments, but
that they have found a way to help them out. The community center does need help promoting their pop
up program discussed last meeting, so LYC members will be promoting and participating in this.
Andrew Lawrence closed the meeting by mentioning he and his peers started a student run newspaper in
which he can promote LYC and the community center pop up program in the paper.
Our next meeting will be Thursday, March 11th at 7:00 pm.
