COMMITTEE CHARGE <br /> Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) <br /> Members: 11 Members <br /> Appointed by: Select Board <br /> Length of Term: Following the completion of all planned activities in 2026. <br /> Meeting Times: As determined by the Commission. <br /> Provide for a minimum of three community meetings (one daytime/one <br /> evening/one weekend day) to solicit public comment within the first 18 <br /> months of the Commission's formation. <br /> Description: To evaluate, make recommendations and coordinate the Town-wide <br /> activities to be held to commemorate the 250'Anniversary of the Battle of <br /> Lexington (which will take place in April 2025) and other historical events <br /> related to the founding of our Country. And to further the coordination of <br /> the Town's events with local, state,regional and federal events. <br /> Deliverables: As part of its study and investigation, the committee shall <br /> develop a comprehensive plan for celebrating and promoting the 250th <br /> anniversary of the Battle of Lexington to include: <br /> 1. Identify funding needs <br /> 2. Identify potential sources of funding including but not limited to: <br /> a. Commemorative Memorabilia <br /> b. Public/Private Partnerships <br /> c. Gifts and Grants (private, State and/or Federal) <br /> 3. Identify opportunities for individuals or organizations to <br /> participate in celebrations with a commitment to diversity, <br /> inclusiveness, and opportunity at all levels and activities <br /> 4. Investigate opportunities for a possible permanent memorial <br /> 5. Transportation-related issues <br /> 6. Marketing and communication <br /> 7. Determine what sub-committees or additional staffing <br /> requirements (event planning) may be necessary and seek proper <br /> approval from the Select Board <br /> 8. Updates will be presented to the Select Board at least Quarterly. <br />
