El Lexington Council for the Arts <br /> V. Grants update: Jillian Tung <br /> A. Window for submitting grant applications for FY2021 closes December <br /> 14. This is a hard deadline. <br /> B. MCC will provide LCA with a panel comprising all grant applications and <br /> supporting documents submitted by applicants for our review. <br /> C. First of 2 grant review meetings will be held on January 11, 2021. The <br /> purpose of this meeting will be to decide which applications will be <br /> funded. The amount of the awards will be decided by LCA at February <br /> 1,2021 meeting. <br /> VI. Publicity updates: Shalini Kakar and Jillian Tung <br /> A. Articles <br /> 1. Jillian wrote an article for the Minuteman and Colonial Times <br /> entitled"Go Out Doors, Lexington." The piece provides an <br /> overview of the exhibit. Shalini wrote a piece entitled"Internal <br /> Topographies:A Kaleidoscope of the Subconscious." Shalini added <br /> both articles to the LCA website. <br /> B. YouTube <br /> 1. Five videos, recorded by Lex Media at the opening of the "Go Out <br /> Doors -Lexington" exhibit were uploaded onto YouTube by Jillian <br /> 2. Next step: add YouTube links to website and share with artists. <br /> VII. New business <br /> A. Council will create a list of Lexington's cultural assets to be used as a <br /> resource for community members and other town committees. <br /> B. Possibilities for website expansion were discussed. <br /> C. Discussions ongoing with the Tourism Committee to consider partnership <br /> in seeking Cultural District designation from the MCC. <br /> D. Steve and Jillian attended the Tourism Committee meeting on December 3 <br /> with Luis Cotto in attendance. <br /> VIII. Brainstorming and discussion of possible spring project ideas <br /> A. Melissa: remotely-conducted open mike event: easy idea, would take <br /> coordination, different art forms could be presented. <br /> B. Shalini: part II of Doors project and possible public auction of doors <br /> C. Jillian: extension of Doors project, possibly in conjunction with a <br /> community engagement event and small group music performances. <br /> D. Steve: decorating utility boxes; bikeway haiku; poet laureate for town <br /> (would be available to do workshops for poets in town and other events). <br />
