<br />Selectmen's Meeting <br />December 16, 2019 <br />A meeting of the Lexington Board of Selectmen was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, <br />December 16, 2019 in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room, Town Office Building. Mr. Lucente, Chair; <br />Mr. Pato; Ms. Barry; Ms. Hai; and Mr. Sandeen were present, as well as Mr. Malloy, Town <br />Manager; Ms. Axtell, Deputy Town Manager; and Ms. Katzenback, Executive Clerk. <br />SELECTMAN CONCERNS AND LIAISON REPORTS <br />Mr. Lucente reported that he and Mr. Sandeen had attended the Harrington Elementary School <br />Blue Ribbon Award ceremony. He congratulated everyone at the school on their accomplishments. <br />Mr. Sandeen reported that on December 12, 2019, he and Mr. Pato both presented at Lex Rethink <br />Buildings on municipal and personal buildings within Lexington. <br />ITEMS FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION <br />1. Citizens' Academy Graduation <br />Katharine Labrecque, Management Fellow, presented an update on the Lexington Citizens’ <br />Academy, which is a nine-week program where participants meet once a week in the evenings <br />to learn about local government and the role each department plays in serving the public. The <br />goal of the program is citizen engagement, which has been a key priority identified by the <br />Board of Selectmen. The program is designed to connect residents with the Board of Selectmen <br />and Town staff and to encourage participation on Town committees and boards, as well as <br />Town Meeting. The program is now in its eleventh year. <br />Tony Messina, 9 Jackson Court and Citizens’ Academy participant, stated that it was a pleasure <br />to participate in the program. He felt that it was highly organized and informative. <br />Vijay Gadepally, 17 Bowman Street and Citizens’ Academy participant, stated that it was a <br />pleasure to participate in the program. He was impressed with the professionalism of the staff <br />and the teamwork within the Town. <br />Jennifer Zacharis, 26 Rindge Avenue and Citizens’ Academy participant, stated that it was a <br />pleasure to participate in the program. She expressed that the program was a great way to learn <br />about, and grow community within, the Town. <br />The Board thanked and congratulated the participants and stated that they are all looking <br />forward to them being involved in boards and committees within the Town. <br />Ms. Labrecque stated that the 2019 Citizens’ Academy program had 32 participants and the <br />following participants were celebrating their graduation from the program at the Board of <br />Selectmen meeting: <br />Paul Allen, Amy Armitage, Agnes Capiau, Bob Caravana, Jennifer Caruso, Ben Cole, Crystal <br />Dolcimascolo, Kristen Felton, Jodi Finnegan, Vijay Gadepally, Patty Grasso, Daniel Gruskin, <br />Brian Hammond, Coralie Hottot, Nilofar Jhalodwala, Priya Krishnan, Tony Messina, Nancy Olt, <br /> <br />
