HomeMy WebLinkAbout2947 Warrant for a Town Meeting to be held on June 29, 1895 ARRANT ` c� v I'C)it A 1895\� APRILIq' To WILLIAM B, FOSTER, Constable of Lexington, Greeting; In the name of the Comnionwealth' of Massachusetts you are hereby sregttired to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Lexington, qualified by law to vote in town affairs. to assemble at the Towo Hall, uo Saluid'q, Iel'wooll-oiol al ot J An D., 1895, of 7 .30 o'clock, P. M . , to act on the following Articles, namely:— Art. i. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting. Art. 2. To hear the report of any committee that may ready to report and act thereon. Art. 3. To see if the town will authorize its Selectmen to purchase of the Lexington.Water Company its whole water rights, estates, franchises and privileges for a sum not exceeding two hundred thousand (200,000) dollars. Art. 4. To see if the Town will issue its bonds in payment for the whole water rights, estates, fi•anchises and privileges of the Lexington Water Company, redeemable in twentv (20) years from date, at such rate of in- terest and in such form as the Selectmen may determine, or act in any manner relating thereto. Art. 5. To see if the Town will purchase the corporate property, franchise, and all the rights and privi- leges of the Lexington Water Company. Art. 6. To see if the Town will vote to place a heating apparatus in the Alms House, and make ;in ap- propriation therefor. Art- 7. To see if the Town will authorize the Selectmen to sell a portion of the lot on which the Hancock Engine House stands on Merriam street, or act in any manner relating thereto. Art. 8. To see if the Town will authorize the Selectmen to purchase a parcel of land in the rear of the Hancock Engine House lot, on Merriam street, or act in any manner relating thereto. Art. g. To see if the Town will accept and adopt the provisions of Chapter 382 of the acts of 1871, in relation to the assessment of betterments. Art. io. To see what action the Town will take iA relation to an order of the County Commissioners to build 682 feet of road from the railroad to Bedford town line, and appropriate gamey therefor. Art. i i. To see if the Town will authorize the Selectmen to adjust any damage:,for land taken on the linc of the New State Highway, and make an appropriation therefor. Art. 12. To see if the Town will authorize their Treasurer, under the direction of the Selectmen to borrovy a sum of money in anticipation of the collection of taxes of the present year, in addition to the amount authorized at the annual meeting. Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, on or before the time of said meeting.
