Phillips asked for an appropriation of %5500. This <br /> was expected to cover the cost of another permanent man in <br /> the central engine house , required by the absence of the regu- <br /> lar driver, either at meals or vrhile driving the watering <br /> cart in the hummer. This extra expense did not seem to be <br /> required, and was not approved by the Finance Committee, <br /> In the discussion regarding this, it was suggested that the <br /> exact pressure and capacity of the hydrants in all parts of <br /> the town, should be carefully tested and recorded., so that <br /> the Fire Department and the Water Commissioners night know <br /> at all times to what extent they could rely upon the ordinary <br /> water service for fire protection, zrithout the use of the <br /> s teaw 'ire erigine .
