The Committee, appointed at the March meeting to devise some
means to take care of the water entering the Cemetery from Main S. have
attended to the same by getting levels run north-west & south-east of
Main St . ; also by procuring plans & levels for outlet through the Ceme-
tery to the railroad. Before adopting any of the above plans ,Csome im-
pna.ctica.ble, others expensive & not satisfactorORe recommend the expert-
ment of digging 3 wells in the basin west of the driveway, 6 ft. in diameter '
agaL about 6 f t , dee and about 20 ft , apart , the wells to b*roughly stoned and
to cost about $100. for the three ; the gravel from these wells to be used,
as f`ar"as it will go, for raising the road at its lowest point and, perhaps,
for raising one or two lots on the east side of the road. We propose then
to conduct the water in pipes across the cemetery road to these wells
which, we think, will distribute at once all the water under ground coming
from Main St. We would recommend the appropriation of $200. to do this.
We would say that to drain it by Main St. / north-east or south-west lis too
expensive to be considered ; to drain through the Cemetery to the rail-
road could be donealtho' at considerable expense, but we think the R. R. Co.
will not allow us to empty water on its land. We recommend the experiment
of the wells first as it is not expensive and we feel reasonably sure that
they will do the- work satisfactorily,
ee
f
