Review of Lexington Economic Development Trends <br /> <br />Melissa presented the Economic Development Trend Report with committee members <br />providing comments and feedback <br /> <br />a) Do total number of employees include public school and town pubic <br />employees? There is a need to confirm. When counting private employment, <br />town government and school should be excluded. <br />b) The increase of office space is comparable to neighboring towns in percentage, <br />but small in absolute sq footage compare to Waltham and Burlington <br />c) There is little lab/office space renovation compared to the residential housing, <br />this contributed to the smaller increase of commercial assessed value. <br />d) Lincoln Lab on the federal side, no tax is levied. <br />e) Various tax incentives/abatements were provided to businesses <br />f) Lexington office/lab space vacancy rate (5% – 10%) is in normal range. <br />g) Small businesses are paying the same as large businesses but may not have <br />incentive and abatements. <br /> <br />2. Gantt chart update: <br /> <br />Gantt chart is a large spreadsheet, it’s not convenient to post to the website.
