DESIGN ADVISORY COMMITTEE (DAC) <br />Members: 9 full members, 8 associates <br />Appointed by: Board of Selectmen <br />Length of Term: 1 year term (members and associates) <br />Appointments made: September 30 <br />Meeting Times: 1 st Wednesday of each month <br />Description: The purpose of the Design Advisory Committee is to assist the town in providing professional design <br />guidance on town -funded projects or town buildings and facilities. The committee is also charged with malting <br />recommendations to enhance the attractiveness of town lands, parks, recreation areas, conservation areas, and other <br />public areas. In addition, it may be asked to review and comment on proposals by private sector firms and <br />individuals where a town interest is involved. Its recommendations are made to the Board of Selectmen. <br />Criteria for Membership: Members should be architects, landscape architects, planners, environmental engineers, or <br />other design professionals residing in Lexington. Most are drawn from the Design Advisory Croup, a pool of design <br />professionals who have expressed an interest in serving the town. The Committee may also include representatives <br />of Lexington committees or organizations concerned with design and town aesthetics. <br />Ref.: Charge adopted by Selectmen on December 2, 1986 <br />Remove term limit, adopted by Selectmen October 21, 2002 <br />Increase Associate members to 8, adopted by Selectmen January 27, 2003 <br />Selectmen designated as Special Municipal Employees on January 9, 1989. <br />Selectmen reaffirmed designation as Special Municipal Employees on January 18, 2006. <br />
