<br />MINUTES <br /> <br />FUND FOR LEXINGTON BOARD <br /> <br />September 19, 2017 <br />4:30 p.m., Dawe’s Room, Town Offices <br /> <br />Present: Norman Cohen, Alan Fields, Edmund Grant, Doug Lucente, Paul Shupe, Alan Wrigley <br />and Charlotte Rogers, Director of Human Services. <br /> <br />1. Money Available as of 8/31/17: Principal $ 299,949.55 <br /> Income $ 21,606.67 <br /> <br />2. Human Services: <br />a. Human Services Report: June 1, 2017 to August 31, 2017 <br /> <br />Charlotte Rodgers reviewed the activity for the period. A brief overview of the Funds <br />that are used by the Human Services Department was given. During the reporting <br />period $1,187.82 was dispersed from the supported Living/Cred Card/LEHAC Fund, <br />the money of which is provided by LexHab. The money was used to assist a resident <br />who was about to become homeless. While there were no dispersements from the <br />Human Services Emergency Fund during the reporting period for emergencies <br />needing less than $500, it was noted that that Fund has only a small amount available. <br /> <br />On motion duly made and seconded, it was voted 6-0 to approve the transfer of <br />$5,000 to the Human Services Emergency Fund which is held by the Town Treasurer <br />and dispersed at the request of Human Services Department. <br /> <br />b. Summer Recreation Program Scholarship <br /> <br />Charlotte Rodgers reported that the Pilot Scholarship Fund for making it possible for <br />children to attend summer programs was a great success. Discussion was had about <br />the future of this initiative. It was agreed that the Human Services Department should <br />make a proposal for the next year which builds on the success of the Pilot Scholarship <br />Fund this year. <br /> <br /> <br />3. Other Issues <br />a. Request for funds –Grocery Store Card Program - $1,000 (40 - $25.00 Gift Cards <br />from Stop & Shop and Market Basket) <br /> <br />The Board discussed the request of the Human Services Department for funds to <br />purchase grocery cards from Stop & Shop and Market Basket. <br /> <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted 6-0 to approve the request of the <br />Human Services Department for $1,000 to purchase grocery cards from the Stop & <br />Shop and Market Basket. <br /> <br />4.
