FINANCIAL <br /> STATEMENT <br /> Dr. Lawson presented his recommendations and the report of Mr. DRIVER <br /> Coules, Director of Driver Education to the School Committee. Dr. EDUCATION <br /> Lawson noted that if the, school committee accepted the three recommenda- <br /> tions being presented, the driver education program would be self-sup- <br /> porting. <br /> Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools it was <br /> VOTED: to accept the following recommendations regarding the driver <br /> education program. <br /> 1. The fee for students be set at $60.00 for a complete course. <br /> 2. Classroom teaching salaries be set at $7.91 an hour. <br /> 3. Behind the wheel teaching salaries be set at $6.86 per hour. <br /> (Brown, Wadsworth, Unanimous) <br /> Mr. Michelman asked if there were any provision for special rates <br /> for a student who was unable to afford the cost. Dr. Lawson said that <br /> to his knowledge no cases have occurred but would be considered on an in- <br /> dividual basis, if such a situation arises. <br /> Dr. Lawson presented the information regarding the Adult Education ADULT EDUCATIOI <br /> Program to the School Committee and recommended that the tuition be in- <br /> creased to $6.00 per class hour, and teaching salaries to $7.75 per teach- <br /> ing hour. The school committee felt that an increase of 5.57 would be <br /> more acceptable for teaching salaries. Dr. Lawson agreed that such an <br /> increase would be appropriate, and suggested that it would be done with <br /> the understanding that future increases would be considered, in relation- <br /> ship to the salary scale agreement. Dr. Rotberg said that he felt salary <br /> increases would result in fee increases if the program was to remain self- <br /> sustaining.
