Page 168
July 24, 1975
Dr. Fobert announced to the School Committee that he has accepted another
position with the State of New York as District Superintendent of the Board DR. FOBERT'S
of Cooperative Educational Services in Norther Westchester/Putnam Counties. RESIGNATION
His resignation as Superintendent of Schools in Lexington will become effective
September 12, 1975.
Dr. Fobert stated that he has enjoyed his period of leadership in Lexington,
a town he judges to be one of the finest communites in which he has lived and
worked. He predicted an even better school system in the future, partly because
we have a proportionately higher percentage of quality committed and dedicated staff
members than any system with which he was acquainted.
Mrs. Swanson thanked Dr. Fobert, on behalf of the Town and the School Committee
for his 11 1/2 years of dedicated service to the school system.
It was
VOTED: To accept Dr. Fobert's resignation with regret, effective 9/12/75.
(Brown, Rotberg, Unanimous)
The School Committee held a discussion concerning the process to be used
for the selection of a successor to Dr. Fobert. It was felt that a citizens'
committee would be helpful in assisting the School Committee. In addition, a group
of citizens and staff would serve as is the usual practice to interview candidates
who are the top contenders for the position.
It was
VOTED: To appoint a 5-6 member citizens' committee to assist the School Committee
in its selction of a new Superintendent of Schools. (Brown, Rotberg, Unanimous)
The School Committee
VOT7f: To adjourn the meeting at 12:30 p.m.
Re pectful submitted.
Gn,Z-, y U
Jane Berchtold
Secretary
