The historic Districts Commission held a hearing Tuesday,
Aug. 26p 1958 in the Sel.ec:tmen9a Room at °«Cif p.m* on the
application of the Simon WobiTSson lodge for a certificate of
appropriateness for the demolition of dwelling and garage at 3 & 5
Bedford St. and a : addition to the existing Masonic T€mple.Sittisrg

Yr.Lavia read the notice. KrJorden, Chairman of the Building Committee
said they vented to tear down the building and garage and clean up.

considerable time. The architect will try some Ketches in an effort
to redesign the roof lima from suggestions made. :every one was most
anxious to have this the best possible because the Temples is one of the
oldest buildings and one of the bes t in town. It is desired to keep
the ilhcle~ thing as simple as possible.
The building ate. would be painted white with green shutters, as now.

MEETING: It was voted unanimously to O.K. demolition. The applicant
will duplicate in detail everything they have in the: old building. on
the now doorways similar to what they have can front dour. There was
again considerable discussion on the roof line, fire ozeape and soma
minor details.
It was voted unanimously to isr;ue the certificate. The demolition is
0.K. The Commission will appro7e the construction of the addition and
alterations with the proviso that a satisfactory redesign of the rood`
can to REFS on Pas well as some minor details. If this is `agreed
upon, RAN drawings will be furnished they Commission. If no
agreement is reached, a hoaring( a now oT'iEE ) will be necessary. It
was also decidad that detailed drawings df the fire escape will be
givesn. to Commission for approval before thle work is. done.
Mr.','!sorthen & Vr.Cole will work with Mr.Erickson on the redesign.
