Some of the classes that are running include: Beginner and Advanced Chess,Kids <br /> Test Kitchen, Little Coders,Business Sharks,Lego Robotics, Littlest Musicians, Women's <br /> Boxing, Fencing, and Martial arts. <br /> Francesca from the Recreation Committee noted that there is still a punch list of construction <br /> items to be completed at the pool so crews will be there until November 1st <br /> Charlotte gave updates for Human Services. She mentioned that fall classes are in full swing: <br /> OWLL,discussion groups, and trips are full. Tony Serio is working with Kristie Demirev and <br /> Julie Fenn from the schools to start an after school group of the middle schoolers. The focus <br /> of the group will be social skills and not clinical. <br /> Human Services received a$26,000 grant from the Dana Home Foundation to purchase a <br /> mobile computer cart. The first classes with the computers begins next week.Oktoberfest <br /> has been cancelled due to low enrollment. <br /> A Mental Health&Wellness task force has been established. There is a working group of <br /> staff from Health and Human Services,Fire, Police, Schools, Recreation&Community <br /> Programs,and Town stakeholders. They will be looking at research,prevention,post-vention, <br /> and intervention. They want to broaden the scope of mental health and not just focus on <br /> suicide. <br /> There will be a QPR(Question,Persuade,Refer)training on September 24 from 7:00-8:30pm <br /> at the LCC in Room 237. Another training is planned for November 15 at 9:30-11:30am. <br /> These trainings are for 18+. There is a special module for QPR for address youth. Charlotte <br /> announced that senior management will get the training as well as middle managers,funded <br /> by the CRNA grant.Human Services is planning to apply for more funding the next three <br /> years. There are plans for a mental health referral service to go live on December 1st.It will <br /> be run by the William James Interface,a mental health referral service run by William James <br /> College. Human Services is looking for a way to market the referral service and one <br /> suggestion is creating a sticker to put on the back of cell phones.
