3 Benjamin Welenton chosen an assessor. for ye <br />present .year <br />4 ye Select mens Proposals specified in.ye.war- <br />rant for this meeting Confirmed; & two men chose <br />below ye eight mile Line: Viz Joseph Estabrooke <br />& Lt Francis Bowman; for ye one; & by yt persons <br />propounded in sd proposals., for to choiee ye In- <br />habitants above ye eight mile line refused to. <br />any-. Sd Proposals bearing Date,` May 20: 1717: & <br />inserted in ye first leaf of this book <br />5 yt m.Thomas Blodgett should be allowed sumthing <br />by ye Town towards ye makeing satisfaction to John <br />Cutter, for a way laid through this Land for sd <br />Blodgett & others to come to meeting in although <br />sd blodgett is Obliged for ye whole. as will appear <br />_by a Record bearing Date aprill 1: 1717: to all <br />Land to be madeout of ye high ways betwixt ye <br />John Law --Ranges of Lotts above ye eight mile .Line; <br />rene Jos.fi yt ye Select men Take ye •care of Providing <br />Fassett a School master for this present year &.impowered <br />assent to agree withhim both as to ye Term, & salary & <br />intered. place of keeping sd School &c. <br />in ye 7 that if any of ye nonresidents yt paid money <br />first towards ye building,ye new meeting house, be <br />leaf of satisfied; Y delve their money again; it shall <br />this book be paid to the again, or any one of them upon <br />against .his or theirdelve as aforsd; out of ye Treasury <br />ye i't em < <br />allow and May 31 1717 Then ye Select men being all together <br />to ye qugl(Benjamin Welenton being chosen yt day assessor for <br />ity of it.this present year;) they Joseph Fassett & Joseph <br />Estabrooke to administer ye oath to htn as.ye Law <br />Appointed Directs: <br />.Entered by Order of ye Select Men <br />At a Meeting of ye Select men of texington june: <br />10: 1717: They appointed Joseph Estabrooke to wait <br />upon ye Sessions; Relating John Cutters Complaint <br />& Captn Reeds Damageresord to ye judgement of a <br />Commite returnable to Sd Sessions; sd.Estabrook <br />to be allowed for his time & necessary. Expence. <br />Likewise Then ye Select men & Constable Chose John <br />MhnRoe Sealer of waits &Measures "for ye ensuing <br />year; who at ye time made Oath^to sd office as ye <br />Law Directs, & was ordered to get a Letter L: sd <br />Select men to see yt he be paid for it: <br />Entered by order of ye Select <br />Men <br />(15) <br />At a meeting of ye Select men of Lexington. June 24: 1717 <br />Thomas.Paul appeared before ye Select men, being <br />in want of necessary subsistance; & desired sum <br />Relief; ye,selectmen Ordered John Laurance one <br />of Select ten; to Releive him untill furder order <br />• <br />Likewise Captn William Reed appeared; and exhibited <br />his Bilis, for Serveing ye Town as Representative; <br />Viz:. for ye year 1714 & 1716; ye first year he <br />offered to give ye Town; and they Ordered ye Clerk <br />to record sd gift; if sd Reed left ye Bill with ye <br />Clerk in order there unto; & as for ye second year, <br />ye Seleot Men -Calculated ye Bill and ordered ye <br />Clerk to pass an Order to ye:Treasurer for ye pay- <br />ing to Reed therefor; sd bill continued 55 days. <br />
