Described by the newspaper as a desirable location when <br /> it was first being opened up for building, the area is characterized by the same <br /> kind of substantial houses in late nineteenth century picturesque styles which <br /> populated the other new neighborhoods of Meriam Hill, Munroe Hill and Winthrop <br /> Road, and provided homes for people who worked in Boston primarily. Here the <br /> houses were built in far fewer numbers, however.
