ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE (Describe important architectural features and <br /> evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community.) <br /> This cottage, built at the same time as the house at 14 Percy Road, has <br /> a prominent gambrel roof with broad overhang like the main house, but is <br /> otherwise a much simpler structure. <br /> HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (Explain the role owners played in localor state <br /> history and how the building relates to the development of the community.) <br /> This cottage was built by Col. Charles C.G. Thornton for his niece at <br /> the same time as he built a house for himself adjacent at 14 Percy Road. <br /> Both houses were built by contractor Day of Magnolia.
