INVENTORY FORM B CONTINUATION SHEET LEXINGTON 1834 MASSACHUSETTS AVE.
MASSACHUSETTS HISTORICAL COMMISSION Area(s) Form No.
220 MORRISSEY BOULEVARD,BOSTON,MASSACHUSETTS 02125
2249
A 1929 photograph shows the previous, adjacent building at 1836-1840 Massachusetts Avenue as a smaller, two-story hip-
roofed structure, probably built as a house, which was occupied by H. V. Smith's newspaper store. By the 1960s, that wood-
framed structure had been replaced by a modest two-story, brick infill building.
Leader Federal Savings and Loan Association was established in 1916 and closed in 1986. The building has since been
occupied by a variety of banks and now has a retail storefront on one side.
BIBLIOGRAPHY and/or REFERENCES
"Leader Federal Savings Headquarters." http://www.banklocationslist.com/leader-federal-savings-and-loan-association-
headquarters/ Accessed Jul 27, 2015.
Kelley, Beverly Allison.
