INVENTORY FORM CONTINUATION SHEET Town Property Address
LEXINGTON 922 MASS. AVENUE
MASSACHUSETTS HISTORICAL COMMISSION Area(s) Form No.
MASSACHUSETTS ARCHIVES BUILDING
220 MORRISSEY BOULEVARD 23
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02125
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:
The original owner of this house was reportedly Eliza Lakin Colburn. On the 1853 map it appears that this property is
labeled as being owned by L. Pierce or H. Pierce while the house across the street is labeled"Lakin". This appears to be
an error on the map.
The 1898 map indicates that the owner was then H. Bowers. By 1894 directories indicate that milk dealer Lewis Gossom
was living here as was his son Arthur, also in the milk business. In 1901 the Minute-man reported that Lewis Gossom
had purchased the house and land which he had rented for many years from H. Bowers of Somerville(Minute-Man,Nov.
23, 1901). Although Lewis Gossom died in 1904, his widow, Sarah, was still living here in 1932.
BIBLIOGRAPHY:
Hudson, Charles.
