HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION
A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held at 8s00 P.M.
on Wednesday, December 17, 1980, in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, Town
Office Building, Lexington. Present were Commissioners John R. Packard,
Chairman, and Roland B. Greeley, and Associate Commissioners Linda J.
McAulay, Richard S. Morehouse, and Howard C. Nason.
At 8s05 P.M. Soott Douglass presented the application of his mother,
Jewel S. Douglass, for permission to install 21 aluminum-colored combination
windows on the first and second floors at 184.4 Massachusetts Avenue. The
windows are similar to many others approved in previous hearings, and after
a brief discussion, it was VOTED to approve the request.
At 8s1S P.M. Elizabeth Bryant and Jan Brink presented scale drawings
of a projecting sign they wish to install for Unicorn Books at 1644 Massa-
chusetts Avenue. The sign will be black and gold and met with the Commis-
sion's approval, which was so VOTED, with Mr. Greeley abstaining. Because
it is a projecting sign, the Board of Appeals must also approve it.
Following a brief discussion of how our activities could be better
coordinated with those of the Board of Appeals, a subject raised by that
Board's Chairman, Mrs. Morey, with Mr. "rackard, the Commission adjourned ~
its meeting at 8s45 P.M.
