A meeting oP the Historic Districts Commission was held on Monday,
March 28, 1977, at 8:00 P.M. in Room G-5, Town Office Building., Lexing-
ton. Present were Commissioners. Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman, and S.
Lawrence Whipple; Acting Commissioner John R. Packard; and Associate
Commissioners Ruth B. Adams and Oliver F. Hooper. Mrs. Adams was ap-
pointed to serve for Commissioner Georgia H. Williams who was unable to
be present. Mr. Hooper was appointed to serve for Commissioner Amalia
G. Samoylenko who was unable'to be present. It was moved, seconded, and
voted tha~',~Irs. Adams serve as Secretary Yro Tem.
The Chairman presented a''c~raft of a Certificate of Appropriateness
for Hair-em, Inc, together, with a revised drawing of the sign which fol-
lowed the suggestions made. by tl~,e Commission to the applicant at the
hearing on March 23, 1977, after discussion, upon motion made by Mr.
Hooper at~d seconded by Mr. Packard, it was voted that the Certificate
of Appropriateness be issues to Hair'em, Inc. xith respect to the erec-
tion and display of a sign for the store at 846 Massachusetts Avenue,
which is within the East Village District. Participating in this deci-
sion were Commissioner:_ Wilbur M. Jaquith, Acting Commissioner John R.
Packard, and Associate Commissioners Ruth B. Adams and Oliver F. Hooper
voting in the affirmative and Commissioner S. Lawrence Whipple voting i
in the negative.
A discussion was held with respect to the signs on the Trani Build-
ing at 1775 Massachusetts Avenue for L. H. York Associates and Lexington
Travel Bureau, Inc. There was also a discussion on an alternate sugges-
tion for a fence at 6 Parker Street made by Mr. Bakanowsky.
The meeting was adjourned.
