Mr. Daley made several comments as follows :loading dock in the base-
, ment needs further study; he appreciates the brick bearing pairs on the
ground level and feels this is broken up, does not worry about the single
pane windows, on the Mariam Street elevation feels fewer and deeper set-
backs might be preferable, and- he feels that the entrance area to the upper
floors needs defining; he stated that he shares the concern of Mr. Jaquith
regarding. the solid brick walls on the front part of the building on the
Depot Square and Mariam Street elevations and perhaps additional windows
could be added to break the monotomy of these walls; he .stated that he does
not object to the notches in the roof but feels that they could be made '
stronger; he feels the use. of the. granit lintel is good and suggested that
perhaps they could introduce the same granite below the windows rather than
using another material; and he suggested highlighting different areas with
use of brick detail in various areas.
Mr, Cataldo stated that the Board of Selectmen initially supported the
21' setback and had attempted to come to agreement. with owners regarding a
possible land swap from Depot Place by closing this alley in order for the
Town ~ obtain the additional 6' setback. The Selectmen do not want to hold
up construction of the building. and feel that the design anii architecture
appropriateness is up to the Historic Districts Commission. The 15' land
swap is currently being worked on and as soon as all agree upon this the
Board of Selectmen will sign land swap agreement with the owners of the pro- i
party, with the Town obtaining the front 15' and the Realty Trust obtaining
the former fire station property on A~sriam Street.
It was asked if the Traffic Commission will make any study of the ramp
on Depot Place and Mr. Matheson stated that, he has studied this problem and
has discussed it with the Town Engineer.`
Following further discussion, the meeting was closed at 10120 P.M.
Mt. Gataldo stated that the Town had exercised the option on the for-.
mar Harrington property aril as soon as possible after closing wish to demo-
lish the buildings on the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Clarke Street
so will submit an application fora Permit to the Commission.

tary, submitted scale drawings of the proposed changes and side view draw-
ings of the proposed dpiorway. The door, backboard oY the sign, and wood
muntins of the windaws will be ~ainted white. The air conditioning unit
over the door will. be aluminum.. Antique water struck brick is their pre-
_ ference for the building bricks and the proposed mansard roof would be of
white shingles left to weather in their natural starts. The signboard on the
roof would bear the word "Niario's" and there would be a signboard above the
