MINliTES OF A MEETING HELD ON APRIL 22, 1970
The Historic Districts Commission held a meeting on Wednesday, April
22, i97o, in the Selectmen°s Room, Town Office Building, Lexington. r1em-
hers present were Commissioners G7ilbur P~f. Jaquith, Chairman; Philip B.
Parsons, Secretary; George E. Graves; Max H. Straw; Georgia H. Williams;
and Associate Commissioner Franklin C. Hudson.
An adjourned hearing was held at 7155 P.M. or. the application of
Gordon Optical Company for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect
to the erection and display of a sign on the front elevation of the store
at 1844 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District.
Present for the applicant was Sherman P. Shriber, ~?anager. Three scale
drawings of the proposed sign and photographs of the front of the building
were submitted. Following discussion, Mr. Shriber withdrew at 8128 P.M.
It was moved, seconded, and unanimously VOTED to issue a Certificate of
Appropriateness to Gordon Optical Company for the erection and display of
a sign for the store at 1844 ?•iassachusetts Avenue. Participating in this
decision iaere Commissioners Wilbur i~S. Jaquith, Philip B. Parsons, George
E. Graves, Max H. Straw, and Georgia H. Williams.
An adjourned hearing was held at 8s50 P.M. on the application of
Tr~Tholesale Electronic Supply for a Certificate of Appropriateness with re-
spect to the erection and display of a sign on the front elevation of the
store at 1711 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green Dis-
trict. Present for the applicant was David T. rTullen, President. Three
scale drawings of the proposed sign were submitted. Following discussion,
Mr. Mullen withdrew at 10130 P.M.
Mr. Jaquith submitted a bill for $40.69 far secretarial services and
expenses from Barbara Gilson, Clerk. It was moved, seconded, and VOTED
to approve payment of this bill.
N's. Jaquith briefly discussed two applications for Certificates of
Appropriateness for which hearings have been scheduled on May 6, 1970.
It was moved, seconded, and unanimously VOTED to issue a Certificate
of Appropriateness to Trdholesale Electronic Supply for the erection and
display of a sign for the store at 1711 Massachuse~t±s Avenue. Participating
in this decision were Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith, Philip B. Parsons,
George E. Graves, Max Ii. Straw, and Georgia H. Williams.
The meeting was adjourned at 111/5~5~P.A1.
