PLANNING BOARD MEETING <br />'July 2, 1973 <br />The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at 7:30 <br />p.m. by the chairman Dr. Clarke with members L. Brown, S. Brown, Graham, <br />Costello, planning director Briggs, planning intern Whitney and secretary <br />Mrs. Snow present. Also in attendance was Cheryl Waixel, Lexington Minute - <br />Man. <br />1 <br />Draft of a letter to the Register of Deeds authorizing the signatures of SIGNATURE <br />the members of the Planning Board and of the Planning Director on certain AUTHORIZATION <br />plans and instruments was reviewed as to form. It was decided that the <br />wording will be amended and that an additional letter will be prepared <br />advising the Register of Deeds of the vote of the Board authorizing <br />Mr. Briggs' signature to certify action by the Planning Board. Form of <br />both letters had been previously approved by the former Town Counsel <br />The complaint of Mrs. Cortell regarding the need for the cleaning of the VINE BROOK <br />Vine Brook and lack of hand railing at the bridge was again considered. OAK PARK II <br />A letter from the Engineering Department dated May 31, 1973, to the SUBD. <br />complainant advising her of the developer's responsibilities was noted. CLEANIDNG/RAIL <br />Mr. Briggs was authorized to alert the developer to the problems. <br />Mr. Briggs' written report dated July 2, on his meeting on June 28 with BICENTENNIAL <br />Mr. Roland Greeley, Bicentennial Committee, was reviewed. Modest and <br />moderate approaches to the extent of planning for parking, picnic and <br />camping accommodations for 1975-76 tourists, based on the conference, <br />were discussed. <br />Mr. R. Tillinghast met with the Board at 8 p.m. for presentation of his TILLINGHAST <br />proposal for change of land use at the Lexington Press property on Oak- LEXINGTON PRESf <br />land Street. Twenty-two residents of the neighborhood also attended. A <br />plan showing 10 condominium units (owner occupied) garages, balconies, <br />and floor plans for utility, living area and 2nd floor loft, and plot <br />plan were displayed. Plans to preserve stonewalls, trees and general <br />character of the existing building were explained. Intensity of land <br />use and parking ratio were discussed. Mr. Tillinghast has petitioned the <br />Board of Appeals for a special permit (hearing July 17, 1973) and he re- <br />quested favorable Planning Board recommendation an his proposal. <br />Discussion of the proposal and policy regarding continuation of non -con- NON CONFORMING <br />forming land use was continued later in the evening. Opposition of LAND USE POLICS <br />neighbors and high degree of density proposed were noted. Content of a <br />letter to be drafted by Mrs. Brown was considered. It was voted that the <br />letter should reflect Planning Board opinion that the matter might <br />properly be presented to Town Meeting as a rezoning proposal. <br />Mr. Briggs' suggested outline for the 1973 Work Program of the Planning PL. BD.WORK <br />Board, submitted on June 29, 1973, was noted. Mr. Briggs requested that PROGRAM -1973 <br />the members review and make recommendations for changes and addition to <br />the draft. <br />Mr. Briggs reported that William Martin, Assistant Town Engineer, will PHOTOGRAMMETRI( <br />submit a proposal and cost analysis for his work on overlaying property MAPS- LOT LINEf <br />
