1 1 1 PLANNING BOARD MEETING April 3, 1973 The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by the chairman Mrs. Brown with members S. Brown, Graham, planning director Briggs, and secretary Mrs. Snow present. Dr. Clarke joined the meeting later in the evening. Also in attendance were T. Holzbog, DAC, and C. Waixel, Lexington Minute Man. A draft of a letter to the Board of Appeals re Hartwell Park F & D HARTWELL PARK hearing being held on 4/3/73 was reviewed. The letter, containing no F & D 4/3/73 Planning Board recommendations because of late submission of revised plans, was reviewed and approved and was hand carried to the Board of Appeals by Mr. Briggs. Mr. Holzbog offered several favorable comments on behalf of the DAC on the revised Drummer Boy Green plans submitted on April 2, 1973, and made suggestions for possible improvement of road design as shown. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m. for the holding of a public hearing on the definitive plan for subdivision at Columbus Street. The public hearing was adjourned at 9:25 p.m. and the Planning Board meeting was resumed. DRUMMER BOY DAC REPORT COLUMBUS ST. SUBDIVISION PUBLIC HEARING Discussion continued as to need of additional information from the Engineering Department on the Columbus St. plan, investigation of the drainage situation at the site, need for plan showing existing and pro- posed contours, and question of need for a retaining wall at the hammer- head turn abutting the Community Nursery school land. Mr. Briggs will be asked to confer with the Engr. Dept. and give a progress report on April 9. Dr. Clarke read a letter received from WCOP General Mgr. John F. Crohan,WETLAND ART. dated 4/2/73, indicating no objection to inclusion of WCOP land in the pro- WCOP posed "W" zone. Dr. Clarke reported on delay until April 4 of discussion of inclusion ofGREAT MEADOW Great Meadow in Lexington's proposed Wetland Protection zone and it was decided to request that Articles 78 and 79 be tabled in the event they come up at the Wednesday (April 4) Lexington Town Meeting so as to have knowledge of the outcome of the Arlington discussion. Dr. Clarke, who had attended a meeting of the Selectmen to discuss the MERIAM ST. Meriam St. Parking lot Article, reported on three alternative plans whichPARKING LOT are being considered for the lot. A meeting of representatives of concerned boards and committees is scheduled for April 7 at 10 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Battin for discussion of a list of specific studies to be proposed for funding at the time Article 54 is re- opened at the Town Meeting. Dr. Clarke and Mr. Brown plan to attend. A letter dated March 21, 1973 re a meeting on April 19 for Bicentennial plann- ing (Workshop '75) was noted and members encouraged to attend if possible. Revised plans for Drummer Boy subdivision were discussed and improvements over original plan were enumerated. Length of the proposed cula-de-sac, DRUMMER BOY re -design of intersection, and future traffic patterns were considered. Draft of a supplementary Planning Board statement on the rezoning proposal will be prepared by Mrs. Brown, generally to reflect a more favorable re- sponse of the members to the revised plan and containing conditions re- garding phases of construction and road planning. �, The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 p.m. Thomas F.
