1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />PLANNING BOARD MEETING <br />April 3, 1973 <br />The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at <br />7:35 p.m. by the chairman Mrs. Brown with members S. Brown, Graham, <br />planning director Briggs, and secretary Mrs. Snow present. Dr. Clarke <br />joined the meeting later in the evening. Also in attendance were <br />T. Holzbog, DAC, and C. Waixel, Lexington Minute Man. <br />A draft of a letter to the Board of Appeals re Hartwell Park F & D HARTWELL PARK <br />hearing being held on 4/3/73 was reviewed. The letter, containing no F & D 4/3/73 <br />Planning Board recommendations because of late submission of revised <br />plans, was reviewed and approved and was hand carried to the Board of <br />Appeals by Mr. Briggs. <br />Mr. Holzbog offered several favorable comments on behalf of the DAC <br />on the revised Drummer Boy Green plans submitted on April 2, 1973, and <br />made suggestions for possible improvement of road design as shown. <br />The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m. for the holding of a public <br />hearing on the definitive plan for subdivision at Columbus Street. <br />The public hearing was adjourned at 9:25 p.m. and the Planning Board <br />meeting was resumed. <br />DRUMMER BOY <br />DAC REPORT <br />COLUMBUS ST. <br />SUBDIVISION <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />Discussion continued as to need of additional information from the <br />Engineering Department on the Columbus St. plan, investigation of the <br />drainage situation at the site, need for plan showing existing and pro- <br />posed contours, and question of need for a retaining wall at the hammer- <br />head turn abutting the Community Nursery school land. Mr. Briggs will be <br />asked to confer with the Engr. Dept. and give a progress report on April 9. <br />Dr. Clarke read a letter received from WCOP General Mgr. John F. Crohan,WETLAND ART. <br />dated 4/2/73, indicating no objection to inclusion of WCOP land in the pro- WCOP <br />posed "W" zone. <br />Dr. Clarke reported on delay until April 4 of discussion of inclusion ofGREAT MEADOW <br />Great Meadow in Lexington's proposed Wetland Protection zone and it was <br />decided to request that Articles 78 and 79 be tabled in the event they come <br />up at the Wednesday (April 4) Lexington Town Meeting so as to have knowledge <br />of the outcome of the Arlington discussion. <br />Dr. Clarke, who had attended a meeting of the Selectmen to discuss the MERIAM ST. <br />Meriam St. Parking lot Article, reported on three alternative plans whichPARKING LOT <br />are being considered for the lot. <br />A meeting of representatives of concerned boards and committees is scheduled <br />for April 7 at 10 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Battin for discussion of a list of <br />specific studies to be proposed for funding at the time Article 54 is re- <br />opened at the Town Meeting. Dr. Clarke and Mr. Brown plan to attend. <br />A letter dated March 21, 1973 re a meeting on April 19 for Bicentennial plann- <br />ing (Workshop '75) was noted and members encouraged to attend if possible. <br />Revised plans for Drummer Boy subdivision were discussed and improvements <br />over original plan were enumerated. Length of the proposed cula-de-sac, DRUMMER BOY <br />re -design of intersection, and future traffic patterns were considered. <br />Draft of a supplementary Planning Board statement on the rezoning proposal <br />will be prepared by Mrs. Brown, generally to reflect a more favorable re- <br />sponse of the members to the revised plan and containing conditions re- <br />garding phases of construction and road planning. �, <br />The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 p.m. <br />Thomas F.
