I <br />PLANNING BOARD MEETING <br />May 16, 1957 <br />A special meeting of the Planning Board and the <br />Board of Selectmen was held in the Conference Room of <br />Cary Memorial Building on Thursday, May 16,1957 at 8:20 <br />p.m. Present were Selectmen Morey, Reed, and Tucker; <br />and Messrs. Abbott, Burnell, Grindle, Jaquith, and <br />Soule of the Planning Board. Present also were Planning <br />Director Snow and Town Counsel Stevens. <br />Before the joint meeting began, the Planning <br />Board endorsed the definitive plan for the Green <br />Valley Section Two subdivision approved by the Board <br />on April 22, 1957. <br />GREEN <br />VALLEY <br />SEC. II <br />The purpose of the meeting was to discuss in de- REGIONAL <br />tail a previous conference that Messrs. Jaquith and SHOPPING <br />Stevens had held with representatives of Filenets in CENTER <br />regard to the draft of a zoning amendment for the pro- <br />posed regional shopping center in Lexington. <br />Discussed in detail were the major points of <br />' difference between recommendations made by representa- <br />tives of the town and of Filenets. Discussed also <br />were some of the implications thought to be pertinent <br />in regard to the rezoning proposal. <br />Mr. Grindle stated that that morning Mr. Wheeler <br />of Cabot, Cabot & Forbes had telephoned him to say a <br />good word for the Filene's proposal and to state that <br />while there were no definite plans for the Richards <br />property which representatives of Cabot, Cabot & Forbes <br />now owned, said firm was looking for an organization <br />similar to Arthur D. Little Inc. of Cambridge who would <br />be interested in constructing a research laboratory on <br />the Richards site. Mr. Wheeler further stated that if <br />such an organization could be found that Cabot, Cabot & <br />Forbes planned to petition for a re -zoning of the Richards <br />land for the use of such a laboratory. <br />It was also stated at the meeting that Mr. Cowles <br />was trying to obtain options for his land on Spring <br />Street for some sort of commercial use. Mr. Snow stated <br />that a Mr. Roberts of the St. Paul Construction Co. tele- <br />phoned him stating that the company owned land on both <br />sides of Route 128 between Route 2 and the Waltham line <br />' and that said company would be glad to give the land on <br />the reservoir side of Route 128 to the town for use in <br />connection with a recommended regional recreation area if <br />the town would re -zone the company's land on the easterly <br />
