The car allowance of the Director was reduced <br />from *800. to $LOO. because it is expected that a Town <br />car will be provided by July lst. The Clerk - Stenographer's <br />position was reclassified from a S-5 to S-7. This reclass- <br />ification was done by the Selectmen to all Clerk - Steno- <br />graphers in the Town employ. <br />The letter to Mrs. Joseph Hyatt, Hyattsville Maryland, 303 <br />ordering her to correct the sewage situation at the dwelling CONCORD <br />owned by her at 303 Concord Avenue was approved by the AVENUE <br />Board. Mrs. Jones reported that Mrs. Hyatt had called <br />the Health Department and stated that she had instructed <br />Mrs. Silva, tenant, to calla contractor to have the <br />system repaired. Mrs. Jones said she had talked with <br />Mrs. Silva who will get estimates of the job from two or <br />three contractors and then let Mrs. Hyatt decide who <br />would do the job. Mrs. Jones said she realized that this <br />would hold up the correction of this problem for a few <br />days but the tenant did not want to take the responsibility <br />of hiring a contractor without the owner►s okay. <br />The preliminary subdivision plan entitled "Bowser BOWSER <br />Saddle Club Estates, Section III" was approved by the SADDLE CLUB <br />Board with the conditions as stated in the Whitman & ESTATES III <br />Howard Report. <br />The letter to Bryant Land Corporation regarding lots LOWELL <br />originally in the. "Lowell Estates" subdivision was approved.ESTATES <br />Mrs. Jones explained that the President, H. R. Zeller, Jr., <br />of Bryant Land Corporation had been in to the Office and <br />also wrote a letter stating that c.rtain lots that were <br />rejected in the original survey of the subdivision had <br />been filled in and he wanted these lots rechecked and <br />possible released for building. <br />Mr. Lucas of Whitman & Howard, Inc. went out to check <br />on these lots with new plans submitted by Mr. Zeller but <br />they did not include the lot grades in these plans so <br />Mu. Lucas could not approve or disapprove the lots in <br />question. Mr. Zeller was notified that lot grading plans <br />would have to be submitted before approval could be given. <br />The letter to Clifford Magee, owner of an apartment 703 <br />at 703 Massachusetts Ave. was approved by the Board. MASS. AVE. <br />Mrs. Jones explained that the tenant called complaining <br />the landlord had turned off the water in the apartment. <br />Upon checking with the landlord it was found that the <br />plumbing in the basement was blocked and a plumber was <br />fixing it and that was why the water was turned off. <br />The letter to Mr. Magee cited regulations of the Sanitary <br />Code dealing with the owner's resonsibility to provide <br />water for household use for tenants. <br />The Board again discussed the problem of Air Pollution AIR <br />and it was decided that laws would be drawn -up to help POLLUTION <br />control some of the outside burning in Town. Further study <br />will be done before these rules can be drawn -up. <br />
