SC Meeting 4/28/08 page # 1 <br />LEXINGTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING <br />Monday, April 28, 2008 <br />Cary Hall, Estabrook Hall <br />1605 Massachusetts Avenue <br /> <br /> Present: Superintendent Paul Ash, School Committee Chair Tom Diaz, <br />School Committee Members Helen Cohen, Rod Cole, Margaret Coppe and <br />Ravi Sakhuja. The minutes were taken by Leora Tec. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order and Welcome <br /> <br />II. Public Comment <br /> <br /> Patrick Mehr: Would like to know when he will have answers to three questions <br />he posed to the superintendent. The answers to these questions could result in <br />reducing the overall budget. The questions concern: Where do we have FTEs by <br />function and by school, the full METCO cost and part-timers taking full benefits. <br /> <br />III. Superintendent’s Announcements <br /> <br />1. Administrative Reorganization <br />a. K-8 Student Services: There will be two K-8 administrators. <br />b. K-12 Physical Education and Wellness: There will be two part time <br />administrators. <br /> <br />2. High School Accreditation Process <br /> The accreditation team will visit LHS from May 4 to May 7. <br /> <br />3. The administration is mailing letters to parents about bus transportation. <br /> <br />IV. Members’ Reports / Members’ Concerns <br /> <br /> Margaret Coppe: There was an article by an LHS science teacher in this month’s <br />American Biology Teacher. <br /> <br />V. Discussion Item <br /> <br />1. Clarke HVAC Project : The item was introduced by Tom Diaz. Pat Goddard, <br />Director of Public Facilities, gave a synopsis of the issue and answered <br />questions. <br /> <br />There was a discussion of the project. <br /> <br />Motion to resolve that we support the motion under Article 19B (Cohen, <br />Coppe). The motion passed 5-0. <br /> <br />VI. Motion to recess until Town Meeting to reconvene at the request of the Chair <br />(Cohen, Cole). The motion passed 5-0. <br />
