SC Meeting 3/26/08 page # 1 <br />LEXINGTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING <br />Wednesday, March 26, 2008 <br />Cary Hall, Robbins Room <br />1605 Massachusetts Avenue <br /> <br />Present: Superintendent Paul Ash, School Committee Chair Tom Diaz, School Committee <br />Members Helen Cohen, Rod Cole, Margaret Coppe and Ravi Sakhuja. The minutes were <br />taken by Leora Tec. <br /> <br /> <br /> I. Call to Order and Welcome (Tom Diaz) <br /> <br /> <br />II. Superintendents Announcements <br /> <br /> Mrs. Natalie Cohen has accepted the offer to be the new high school principal. She is <br />currently the high school principal in Weston. <br /> <br /> <br />III. Members’ Reports / Members’ Concerns <br /> <br /> Helen Cohen: Tonight Holly Stumpf is receiving the Diversity Award at Town Meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />IV. Discussion <br /> <br />1. Article 41: Patrick Mehr made a presentation on this Article regarding municipal utilities. <br />He hopes the School Committee will support the motion. <br /> <br /> There were questions and discussion from the School Committee. <br /> <br /> Motion to support Article 41 (Cole, Cohen). The motion passed 5-0. <br /> <br /> <br />V. Action Items: <br /> <br />1. Vote to Approve Lexington High School Chinese Foreign Exchange <br />Field Trip to China <br /> <br />2. Vote to Approve Lexington High School French Exchange Field Trip <br />to France <br /> <br />Motion to Approve Lexington High School Chinese Foreign Exchange <br />Field Trip to China and Lexington High School French Exchange Field Trip <br />to France (Cohen, Sakhuja). The motion passed 5-0. <br /> <br />In the future approval must be sought long before tickets are bought and logistical <br />arrangements are made. <br />
