Lexington Special Education Parent Advisory Council(SEPAL) <br /> Lexington Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA) <br /> Business Meeting Minutes <br /> May 2,2017 <br /> Attendees: Jennifer Yaar, Kathy Cunningham, Robin Abrams, Lisa O'Brien, Bettina McGimsey, Mona <br /> Roy, Nicole Diggins Locher <br /> Location: Lexington Community Center, Room 237 <br /> Call to order: 9:04 am <br /> Adjourned: 10:35 am <br /> Approvals <br /> • Minutes from 3/7/16 Business Meeting were unanimously approved. <br /> Reports of Officers <br /> • Treasurer Report: <br /> o Our balance at the end of April was $4,952.00, including $600 in proceeds from <br /> Battlegreen Run contributions. <br /> • Membership report: there are currently 102 SEPAC/SEPTA members <br /> Other Business <br /> • Bettina McGimsey reported on the Dyslexia Subcommittee events. Neuroscientist Nadine Gaab <br /> presented on 5/1 regarding the importance of ongoing intervention of dyslexia. In the <br /> upcoming year, the subcommittee may plan for a parent panel (parent with a dyslexia <br /> diagnosis). Team will follow up with Ellen Sugita about distributing the LLP Audit Executive <br /> Summary. <br /> • Barbara White has requested information from Ellen Sugita regarding definitions of the ILP1, <br /> ILP2, and ILP3 at LHS. <br /> • Ellen Sugita will be following up with the team about the graduation requirements for ILP <br /> students. <br /> • Team working to recruit Membership Coordinator, Community Outreach, and Web Site <br /> Manager for 2017-2018 school year. <br /> • Team agreed to add identification of LexSEPTA and LexSEPAC in messages advertising events <br /> and membership. <br /> • Team discussed new outreach mediums for increasing membership. <br /> • Upcoming year speaker ideas were discussed: Social/Emotional Supports for SPED students, <br /> Dyscalculia, Nonverbal Learning. <br /> • Nominating committee was approved: Jennifer Yaar, Mona Roy, and Kathy Cunningham. <br />
