DRAFT CANNABIS COMMITTEE <br /> The Committee is expected to make recommendations for rules and regulations <br /> related to the medical and adult-use legalization of cannabis. <br /> The passage of Massachusetts Ballot Question 3 (Massachusetts Medical <br /> Marijuana Initiative) on November 6, 2012 legalized the medical use of cannabis. <br /> The passage of Massachusetts Ballot Question 4 (Massachusetts Marijuana <br /> Legalization Initiative) on November 8, 2016 legalized the adult-use of cannabis. <br /> Lexington recognizes the need for the thoughtful development of rules and <br /> regulations, to set guidelines for the eventual permitting process of certain licensed <br /> establishments, and to ensure full compliance with state law and local ordinances. <br /> The Committee shall equitably consider opinions from throughout the community, <br /> business and non-profit, public health and safety officials, youth representatives, <br /> and other interested stakeholders. The Committee will be advisory in nature with <br /> the primary goal being to review, discuss and make recommendations on the <br /> current and proposed rules and regulations for the expanding cannabis landscape. <br /> Time Commitment: <br /> The Committee will meet monthly or more or less often as necessary. <br /> Process: <br /> At each meeting, the Committee will review and discuss options for potential <br /> cannabis rules and regulations on specific regulatory topics, and provide comments <br /> and recommendations to the Board of Selectmen. Committee members will be <br /> provided with a list of agenda topics to be discussed in advance of each meeting. <br /> The suggestions provided are for the purposes of initiating and guiding the <br /> discussion. The Committee members may make suggestions in addition to what is <br /> being provided. Committee members will also be able to submit additional <br /> comments in writing. <br /> Topics: <br /> The Committee shall develop a comprehensive list of topics for discussion based <br /> on: <br /> • Language in the voter-approved Medical Use of Marijuana regulations; <br /> • Language in the voter-approved Adult-Use of Marijuana regulations; <br /> • The Town of Lexington's existing and proposed rules, regulations and ordinances <br /> governing both the medical and adult-use marijuana; <br /> • Existing and proposed state laws and regulations governing medical and adult- <br />
