SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />February 4, 1974 <br />A'regular'meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the .Select- <br />men's,Meeting Room on Monday, February 4, 1974, at 7:30 p.m. Acting <br />ChairMan Bailey, Messrs. Busa and Brown, Mrs. Riffin; Mr. O'Connell., <br />Town Manager; Mr. Cohen, Town Counsel; Mr. McSweeney, Director of <br />Public Works/Engineering; Mrs. McCurdy, Executive Clerk, were present. <br />Mr. O'Connell informed the Board that only one bid was received <br />on theBuckman Tavern storm windows - $3,500 from R & M Wood Products <br />Co. his willbe reviewed with Palmer & Dodge regarding what the <br />contract should contain. <br />The Board discussed the snow storm on last Saturday, during which <br />the DPW employees were "not available." <br />Mr. Bailey: I would like to acknowledge the fine job done by Mr. <br />O'Connell, Mr. McSweeney, Mr. Busa, and Mr. Cohen, and would like the <br />record to show that the principals of the Town did an excellent job <br />during a sensitive situation, and they handled it well. DPW Super-- <br />visorS worked from early morning through the night manning four plows <br />in an, effort to keep the streets passable. <br />Or. Busa: I would like to complement the Lexington citizens <br />for the understanding and kind consideration given when they knew the <br />situation, and they called to complement the departments on the great <br />job they did.. <br />Mr. Brown: I got two calls back from people saying that they <br />really didn't understand but, once they found out, they were really <br />willing.to say they were sorry. <br />Mr. O'Connell: We had heard rumors but had not received official <br />notification that they weren't coming in. When they were contacted by <br />phoneto report for emergency work, either there was no answer or the <br />members of their families said they were out of Town or otherwise un- <br />availpble. Some of the contractors came in but would not plow early <br />in the day but by late afternoon when we told them there was no labor <br />dispute, they went out and plowed. <br />' Acting Chairman informed the Board that Town Counsel. Cohen had <br />approved the form of the agreement between the Boston Edison Company <br />and the Town of Lexington. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to sign the <br />agreement between the Boston Edison Company and the Town of Lexington <br />for sewer easements on the Rangeway sewer from Route 128 to Hartwell <br />Avenue. <br />AGREEMENT AND RELEASE <br />PART I <br />Whereas, by order of taking dated March 18, 1968, and recorded in <br />Middlesex South District Registry of Deeds on April 1, 1968, Book 11485, <br />447 <br />Buckman <br />Tavern <br />Storm <br />Windows <br />DPW <br />Employees <br />Snow Storm <br />Boston <br />Edison <br />Rangeway <br />Sewer <br />Easements <br />
