BOARD OF SELECTMEN POLICY <br /> HALF-STAFF DISPLAY OF US FLAGON TOWN PROPERTY <br /> Date Approved by BOS: Signature of Chair: <br /> February 8, 2016 ;Data <br /> Half-staff display of the United States flag on Town property is intended as a visible,public <br /> symbol of respect, upon their death, for the heroic service and sacrifice of military personnel and <br /> the service of public officials. <br /> Flag on the Battle Green: The United States flag on the Battle Green will be lowered to half- <br /> staff at the direction of the Board of Selectmen or its designee, or in accordance with an order <br /> issued by the President of the United States or the Governor of the Commonwealth. See Board <br /> of Selectmen policy, Lowering the Flag on the Battle Green, dated November 28, 2005. <br /> Flag at Municipal Buildings or Grounds: The United State flag on municipal buildings and <br /> grounds under the jurisdiction of the Town Manager will be lowered to half-staff in accordance <br /> with the Memorial Events schedule set forth below, or in accordance with an order issued by the <br /> President of the United States or the Governor of the Commonwealth. <br /> Memorial Events: <br /> On Death of Flag Displayed at Half-Staff <br /> U.S. President or Former President For 30 Days from the Date of Death <br /> U.S. Vice President; Chief Justice or Retired For 10 Days from the Date of Death <br /> Chief Justice of the U.S.; Speaker of the U.S. <br /> House of Representatives <br /> Associate Justice of Supreme Court; Cabinet On the Day of Death until Interment <br /> Member; Former Vice President; Governor of a <br /> State, territory or possession; U.
