LEXINGTON BOARD OF APPEALS <br />January 27, 1983 <br />The Board held a regular meeting in the Selectmen's Meeting Room. Present and <br />acting on petitions: Woodruff M. Brodhead, Chairman <br />Natalie H. Riffin, vice Chairman <br />Robert M. Gary <br />Thomas G. Taylor <br />Laurence K.. Redgate, Associate <br />Public hearings were held on the following petitions, beginning at 7:30 p.m. <br />9 Hayes Lane, Sumner F. Richards, Jr. requested a variance of dimensional controls <br />(Section 7, Table 2) to ratify a prior decision made by 1953 Board of Appeals and <br />to allow the existing single family house at 9 Hayes Lane to be maintained as <br />presently located. <br />11-13 Hayes Lane, David P. Conley and Dennis J. Furey requested a variance of <br />dimensional controls (Section 7, Table 2) to ratify a prior decision made by 1953 <br />Board of Appeals and to allow existing structure at 11-13 Hayes Lane to be <br />maintained as presently located. <br />959 Waltham St., Benevolent and Protective order of Elks, Lodge 2204 requested a <br />special permit to extend its existing hours to permit opening its facility at 12:00 <br />noon. It is anticipated that meals for members will be served. The Lodge will not <br />be open to the general public during the additional hours (ref. Table 1, lines 2.2 <br />and 2.4 and previous permits granted to the Elks). <br />178 Lowell St., Abraham D. Gosman requested_a special permit to construct an addition <br />to the existing nursing home at 178 Lowell Street (ref. Table 1, line 2.2). <br />324 Marrett Rd., Gulf Refining & Marketing Co. (by Robert W. Matus) requested a <br />special permit for four non -illuminated signs at the gasoline service station (ref. <br />Sign Regs. Sections 10.1.4 and 10.4.5). The signs will be placed on each of the <br />four pump islands and will be used to insert advertising messages. <br />27 Depot Sq., York Hannover (by David L. Pontius) requested a projecting sign (ref. <br />Sign Regs. Section 10.4.3). Sign will read "The St. George's Club - Bermuda <br />177 Mass. Ave., Arty's Restaurant, Inc. requested a special permit to operate a <br />restaurant (Sections 3.3 and Table 1, line 6.12). This was formerly Bora-Bora.. <br />Decisions filed with the Town Clerk are listed below. Most decisions contain <br />conditions. Please see the decisions in each case for details. <br />9 Hayes Lane - variance granted unanimously. <br />11-13 Hayes Lane - variance granted unanimously. <br />959 Waltham St. - SP granted unanimously. <br />178 Lowell St. - SP granted unanimously. <br />324 Marrett Rd. - SP granted (4 to 1, Mrs. Riffin voting in the negative). <br />27 Depot Sq. - Denied (vote:3 in favor, 2 opposed)- Gary and Redgate in opposition. <br />' (A SP needs 4 in favor to grant.) <br />177 Mass.
