BOARD OF APPEALS <br />' June 18, 1981 <br />8 P.M. <br />The Board of Appeals held a meeting in the Selectmen's Meeting Room. <br />Present: Ruth Morey, Chairman <br />Irving H. Mabee <br />Natalie H. Riffin <br />Thomas G. Taylor <br />Eric T. Clarke, Associate <br />The Chairman called a meeting for the purpose of making a decision with respect <br />to the request of Mystic Valley Mental Health Center Association, Inc. <br />186 Bedford St, to amend the special permit granted 10/15/68 so as to allow a <br />change in operating hours. <br />The 1968 special permit granted by the Board of Appeals stated that nobody <br />would occupy the building at night and hours would be 9:00 a.m, to 5 p.m. These <br />are conditions of the permit and are valid unless changed by the Board of Appeals. <br />The hearing on this request for changes in the valid special permit was held <br />on Thursday, May 14, 1981. Conflicting evidence was submitted. Neighbord had <br />much to say with regard to this request. The Board of Appeals, unable to come to <br />a reasonable solution, voted unanimously to re -open the hearing on Thursday, June <br />' 18, 8 P.M. <br />The Board of Selectmen, Building Commissioner, Planning Board, Health Depart- <br />ment, Engineering Department, Conservation Commission, Town Manager and Fire Chief <br />were notified, in addition to abutters and abutters of abutters, etc. <br />The Chairman opened the meeting, read the legal notice and a summary report <br />of the May 14th meeting (see decision filed). <br />All new evidence was heard. Several spokesmen for and against stated their <br />feelings. The Board made its findings and issued a decision. A special permit <br />with conditions was granted. <br />Decision: The special permit was amended to extend the operating hours from <br />9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 5 days a week to 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., 5 days a week. Four <br />conditions were added. The special permit amendment will expire one year from the <br />day it is filed with the Town Clerk. <br />Expiration Date is 6/24/82. <br />The meeting adjourned at 10 p.m <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Evelyn F.
