BOARD OF APPEALS <br />April 9, 1981 <br />' 7:30 p.m. <br />The Board of Appeals held a regular meeting in the Selectmen's Meeting Room. <br />Present: Ruth Morey, Chairman <br />Woodruff M. Brodhead <br />Natalie H. Riffin <br />Thomas G. Taylor <br />Clarence D. Turner, Associate <br />Public hearings were held on the following petitions. <br />Rte. 128, Howard Johnson Co. - special permit for a standing sign and for the <br />internal illumination of it from dusk to 12 midnight and from midnight to 6 a.m. <br />for the restaurant. <br />6 Locust Ave., David and Katherine Smith - variance of dimensional controls from <br />the side yard setback requirements to add a greenhouse structure. The greenhouse <br />will continue the side line of the existing non -conforming house, which has a side <br />yard of 4 feet. Petitioner is exploring ways to incorporate passive solar design <br />to minimize energy usage. <br />235 Bedford St., Harry Knight - variance of dimensional controls to allow the <br />existing non -conforming building and an addition located at 235 Bedford St. (CN Zane) <br />to remain with a side yard of .10 ft. No use change is intended or expanded. Said <br />addition contains heat and utility services and refuse storage. <br />Hayden Ave., Marilyn A. DiNapoli and Rosemary Arthur - variances of dimensional <br />controls (Table 2) from area, side yards and frontage requirements with respect to <br />construction of an office building. <br />Widen Ave., Marilyn A. DiNapoli and Rosemary Arthur - special permit with site <br />plan review (SPS) to construct a 3 -story office building with 33,200 sq. ft. of <br />rentable space, on Hayden Ave. (Map 17, Lot 19). 68 parking spaces will be provided <br />with the majority being located under the building. <br />Decisions filed with the Town Clerk. <br />Rte. 128 (Howard Johnson's sign) - SP granted unanimously with conditions. <br />6 Locust Ave. - Variance granted unanimously. <br />235 Bedford St. - variance denied unanimously. <br />Hayden Ave. - SPS granted unanimously. <br />- Variances granted (4 to 1, Natalie H.
