BOARD OF APPEALS HEARINGS <br />July 12, 1966 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Appeals was held on Tuesday, <br />July 12, 1966, in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building. Present <br />were Chairman Nickerson, regular member Hoyt; associate members Farwell, <br />Dawes and Hamilton: and the secretary, Mrs. Macomber. Hearings were <br />called to order at 7:30 p.m. as follows: <br />Mrs. Ralph Schontag - permission to continue operation of a <br />kindergarten for ten children, five days a week, 9:00 a.m, until noon, <br />at her home, 296 Woburn St., Lexington. <br />Patricia Garrity - permission to continue operation of a nursery <br />and kindergarten from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. for 15-20 <br />children at 21 Butler Ave., known as the Arlex Nursery and Kindergarten. <br />Caleb R. Layton - to vary the Lexington Sign By -Law in order to <br />erect a sign at 1762 Mass, Ave. which would be 18" x 10'6", or larger than <br />that permitted. <br />Lexington Housing Authority - to vary the Building By -Law so as to <br />allow, in part, frame construction for the proposed State -aided Housing <br />' for the Elderly on a ten -acre parcel known as Lot B on Shirley, Sargent, <br />and Tewksbury Sts. <br />Robert R. Howard, Jr. - to vary the Lexington Zoning By -Law in <br />order to maintain the attached shed as it presently exists as part of <br />the premises located at 200 Follen Rd., Lexington, with side yard of only <br />5 ft. instead of the required 15 ft. <br />Louis and Catherine Stoico - for a special permit to subdivide a <br />10.6 -acre parcel at the southwesterly corner of the intersection of Marrett <br />Rd. and Follen Rd. into lots containing not less than 20,000 sq.ft. and <br />having a frontage of not less than 120 ft. in accordance with Sec.8(a)2.f. <br />of the Zoning By -Law as amended by Art. 60 of the March 1966 Town Meeting. <br />Anthony R. Cataldo - for permission to build a 100 -ft, addition to <br />existing greenhouse at 1265 Mass. Ave. <br />At the close of the hearings an executive session was held during <br />which the following decisions were made: <br />Mrs. Ralph Schontag - granted <br />Mrs. Patricia Garrity - granted <br />Caleb R. Layton - granted <br />Lexington Housing Authority - granted with the following conditions: <br />1. That the front and back walls only shall be of wooden construction, and <br />' that they shall be so constructed to have a fire resistance rating of one hour <br />2. That fire detecting equipment shall be installed in each apartment and <br />connected with the main fire station so immediate alarm will be given when <br />heat rises to a certain point. <br />
