290 BOARD OF APPEALS 17EETING ' September 19, 1941 A meeting of the Board of Appeals was held in the Selectmen's Room, at 8:00 P. ISR. Chairman Glynn and Messrs. Robbins, Bowker, Kimball, and Locke were present. The Secretary was also present. At 8:00 P. Pu. hearing was declared open upon the application of Chester L. & Kathryn L. Blakely for per- mission to alter the dwelling located at 509 Bedford Street, Lexington, so as to accommodate two families. Dr. Blakely was the only one present at the hearing. He said that he had a large house of twelve rooms, at least, and had a small family, consisting of himself and his wife. He requested permission to change the house to make a three room apartment upstairs, which would mean putting in a sink, and he understood that such would be making it into a two-family house. The Chairman asked if he was going to use the same entrances, and Dr. Blakely answered in the affirmative. He said he wanted a three room apartment with bath on the second floor. He contemplated no change in the outside. ' He said that he hoped that his wife's sister and her husband would come to live in the upstairs apartment. The Chairman asked if there would be any change in the heating arrangement, and Dr. Blakely replied in the negative. Mr. Kimball asked if they would still want the second apartment even if their relatives did not come, and Dr. Blakely said that they would. He said that he would have to make a bathroom downstairs. The Chairman asked how much land they had, and Dr. Blakely said that he owned eight acres. The hearing was declared closed at 8:08 P. M. Dr. Blakely retired. The minutes of the meeting held on September 5th were declared approved. At 8:15 P. M,. hearing was declared open upon the pe- tition of Marie G. nose for permission to maintain a roadside stand at 748 Waltham Street, Lexington. Inasmuch as neither the petitioner nor abutters appeared, the hearing was postponed until the next meeting of the Board. Upon motion of Mr. Kimball, seconded by Mr.Locke, it was unanimously voted to grant the Blakely petition in the following form: 1
