BOARD OF APPEALS I.iEET7 NO <br />JiiNUiā¢;RY 26, 1932. <br />The Board of Appeals held a joint hearing with the <br />Board of Selectmen in the Selectmen's Hoom, Town Office <br />Building, on January 26, 1932. All of the members of the <br />Board of Appeals were present. <br />At 8 P.M. joint hearing of the Board of Appeals and <br />Selectmen was declared oven on the application of the Lexington <br />Coal Co. for pernIssion to install underground tanks with a <br />capacity of 50,000 gallons for storage of oil and gasoline at <br />their, property on Bedford Street, North Lexington. <br />the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen being absent, <br />Pr. Madd.ison, Chairman of the Board of Appeals was requested <br />to conduct the hearing. <br />Mr. Wm. Ii. Mulliken was present representing the Lexington <br />Coal Company, and explained that the time has come for fuel oil, <br />and in many instances thea must provide fuel oil as a means of <br />fuel and they felt that they should be allowed to install <br />underground storage tanks for the handling of the fuel oil. He <br />stated that they did not intend to use the full capacity of the <br />50,000 gallons at the present time. They did not intend to do <br />any construction work except to put up a small building. <br />The only other changes on the property would be the underground <br />tanks. He explained that the grade was such that they could <br />fill the tanks with oil by gravity, and the only structure <br />above ground would be the pumps. In regard to the gasoline, he <br />desired.to store that so that they mai buy it at :wholesale <br />price for their own cars or for the renting of storage space <br />for a tank car lot. Isir. I,iulliken explained that he did not <br />intend to have a retail gasoline business. <br />;,bout ahalf a dozen persons were present at the hearing <br />but no one objected. <br />(The following order entered by error.) <br />The Board of Appeals, acting under General Laws, <br />Chapter 40, sec. 27, having received a written petition <br />addressed to it by Lexington Coal Company a copy of which is <br />hereto annexed, held a public hearing thereon of which notice <br />was^mailed to the petitioner and to the owners of all property <br />deemed by the Board to be affected thereby as they appear on the most <br />recent local tax list, and also advertised in the Lexington <br />Times -Minute Man, a newspaper published in Lexington, which <br />hearing was held in the Selectmen's Room in the Town Office <br />Building on the 26th day of Janu=ary 1932 at 8 ofelock P.M. <br />All of the members of the Board of Appeals were present. <br />at the hearing. <br />After hearing the evidence offered by the petitioner <br />and such other evidence as was offered, the Board in private <br />session at a meeting held Jan.29, 1932, gave consideration <br />to the subject of the petition and a majority of the Board <br />voted that in its judgment the public convenience and <br />1 <br />1 <br />
