87
BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING
OCTOBER 17, 1930.
A regular meeting of the Board of Appeals was held
in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building at 8'P.M.
Messrs. Maddison, Baldrey, Glynn,an.d Custance were
present. The Secretary, Mrs. H. U. Whittemore was also
present.
The Clerk read the notice of the hearing.
MR. Theodore A. Custance, member of the Board of Appeals,
was requested by.Miss Katherine Harrington as Attorney
for Miss Clara W. Harrington to present her case to the
Board of Appeals.Owing to the extreme illness of her aunt,
she was unable to. appear.
Mr. Custance acting as a citizen, presented the
plan of the proposed location of the two car garage
on the property of Miss Clara W. Harrington, to be located
on Clarke Street, and explained that there was no other
location on the property for the garage unless it was C. W.
placed on the back of the lot, and in order to place the Harrington
garage there, the front porch wo10,91 have to. be removed garage
from the house and Miss Harring'iwould have to travel
over land belonging to the Church of Our Redeemer.
The Secretary reported jhat the representative of
the Church of Our Redeemer, Mr. Leonard Jellis, stated
that they would not want to -have anyone passing over
their land. They would not object to the location as
specified on the plan.
No persons appeared against the application. The
Board discussed the matter and personally went to the
proposed location and viewed the conditions. They
discussed the outside condition of the garage as
it might be finished to conform with the surroundings
it being opposite the Cary Library.
It was considered that the garage should be located
at least three feet from the property line and have a
stone retaining wall from the property line to the walls of
the garage. It was felt that the facing of the garage
should also be of stone.
The Board decided, in view of the details that.
should be worked out in connection with the garage, that
Miss Harrington should be requested to present a new plan
and Mr. Custance of the Board, was delegated to go into.
the details of the matter with her to see that she presented
the proper plan and when this was received the Board would
then hold another meeting to make their decision.
The meeting adjourned at 9:20
A true record, Attest:
Secretary.
