LEXINGTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> Monday, March 24, 2008 <br /> Cary Hall, Estabrook Hall <br /> 1605 Massachusetts Avenue <br /> Present: Superintendent Paul Ash, School Committee Chair Tom Diaz, School Committee <br /> Members Helen Cohen, Rod Cole and Margaret Coppe. The minutes were taken by Leora Tec. <br /> L Call to Order and Welcome (Tom Diaz) <br /> IL Members' Reports /Members' Concerns <br /> III. Discussion: <br /> 1. Second Progress Report of the Schools' Financial Review Committee: This report was <br /> presented by Financial Review Committee member Bob Goodreau. It will be presented at <br /> Town Meeting. <br /> 2. Parent Responses to Full- and Half-Day Kindergarten: There were 245 responses. 197 <br /> parents expressed an interest in full day kindergarten, 38 in half day and 6 in private <br /> kindergarten. This was for planning purposes only and not everyone returned the survey. <br /> On May 1 we will know how many half day kindergartens there will be. <br /> 3. Article 4 <br /> The Committee discussed how the Article would be presented at Town Meeting. <br /> 4. Article 24 <br /> Motion to support the motion under Article 24 establishing special stabilization <br /> funds (Cohen, Coppe). The passed 4-0. <br /> 5. Article 8 <br /> Motion to support the motion under Article 8 (Cole, Coppe). The motion passed 4-0. <br /> IV. Motion to recess and reconvene at the chair's request at Town Meeting (Cohen, Coppe). <br /> The motion passed 4-0. <br /> SC Meeting 3/24/08 page #1 <br />
