STARTING AT THE END AS DIRECTED BY THE SHOP DRAWINGS, INSTALL THE CULVERT CUTOFF WALLS AND WINGWALL FOOTINGS. <br />3. PERFORM BIKEWAY ALTERATIONS SUFFICIENT FOR EQUIPMENT ACCESS FOR CULVERT RECONSTRUCTION. <br />14. INSTALL THE NEW CULVERT SECTIONS AND WINGWALLS ON TOP OF CUTOFF WALLS, FOOTINGS, AND PREPARED BASE. <br />4. TEMPORARY EROSION CONTROLS, COFFER DAMS, AND BYPASS PIPING (OR APPROVED ALTERNATIVE BYPASS) SHALL BE USED TO <br />15. IT IS AT THE CONTRACTORS DISCRETION WHETHER TO FILL CULVERT SECTIONS WITH DESIGNED STREAM BED MATERIAL AS WORK <br />MAINTAIN NATURAL FLOWS IN THE STREAMBED IMMEDIATELY UPSTREAM AND DOWNSTREAM OF THE WORK AREA, AND TO PREVENT <br />PROGRESSES OR AS A FINAL STEP. AS NOTED ON THE DETAIL SHEETS: THE USE OF A SEPARATE TOP SLAB OPTION OR ACCESS <br />SEDIMENT DISCHARGE TO STREAM, IN ACCORDANCE WITH PERMIT CONDITIONS. <br />MANHOLES OPTION IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE CONTRACTOR. A CONTINUOUS BOX CULVERT, TOP SLAB OPTION, OR SEALABLE ACCESS <br />MANHOLES, MEETING ALL REQUIRED SPECIFICATIONS MAY BE USED UPON ACCEPTANCE BY THE ENGINEER. <br />5. INSTALL TEMPORARY BYPASS PIPING, OUTSIDE THE LIMITS. OF NEW CULVERT STRUCTURE, IN THE GENERAL LOCATION SHOWN IN THE <br />EXISTING EDGE OF PAVEMENT <br />PLAN VIEW, AS REQUIRED BY FIELD CONDITIONS. INSTALLATION OF THE TEMPORARY BYPASS PIPING SHALL BEGIN FROM THE DOWNSTREAM <br />16. GRADE STREAMBED MATERIAL WITHIN BOX CULVERT AS DEPICTED ON PLANS. THE FULL CONSTRUCTION OF THE DESIGNED STREAMBED <br />END. DO NOT ACTIVATE BYPASS PIPING UNTIL BIKEWAY DETOUR PREPARATIONS ARE COMPLETE. <br />MATERIAL AND STREAMBANKS WITHIN THE CULVERT MUST BE COMPLETED AS SPECIFIED ON THE PLANS. <br />6. A TEMPORARY COFFERDAM SHALL BE INSTALLED AROUND THE UPSTREAM END OF THE TEMPORARY BYPASS PIPING PRIOR TO PUTTING <br />OPTIONAL CONSTRUCTION METHOD: INSTALL THE TOP SLAB PORTION OF THE BOX CULVERT OR SEALABLE ACCESS MANHOLE COVERS AND <br />HEADWALLS AND SECURE AS SPECIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER. <br />THE TEMPORARY BYPASS PIPING INTO USE. <br />PROPOSED EDGE OF PAVEMENT <br />17. COMPLETE BACKFILLING OF CULVERT STRUCTURE. <br />7. THE UPSTREAM WATER LEVEL OF THE STREAM SHALL BE GRADUALLY LOWERED THROUGH THE USE OF TEMPORARY BYPASS PIPING, <br />EXISTNG DRAIN UNE <br />PUMPING, OR OTHER APPROVED MEANS, AS TO AVOID LARGE VOLUMES OF WATER AND EROSIVE VELOCITIES TO DISCHARGE DOWNSTREAM. <br />18. INSTALL COMPOST SOCK SLOPE STABILIZATION ALONG ALL AREAS OF DISTURBED STREAMBANK, SHAPE STREAMBANKS TO BLEND WITH <br />BED MATERIAL IN THE CULVERT. <br />8. THE UPSTREAM COFFERDAM SHALL BE INSTALLED TO CONTROL SURFACE WATER ACTION AND MAINTAIN ANY NECESSARY WORK IN THE <br />EXISTNG UTILITY POLE <br />DRY. <br />19. REMOVE TEMPORARY BYPASS PIPING, STABILIZE AND REESTABLISH STREAM BANK WHERE TEMPORARY PIPE WAS IN USE. <br />9. CULVERT STRUCTURE PLACEMENT SHALL BE CONDUCTED DURING LOW FLOW CONDITIONS AT A TIME WHEN NO RAIN IS PREDICTED FOR <br />20. REMAINING COFFER DAM SHALL BE REMOVED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THESE ACTIVITIES.
