177 <br /> TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> December 11, 1958 <br /> The ninth meeting of the 1958-59 Town Celebra- <br /> tions Committee was held in the Conference Room of <br /> Cary Memorial Hall December 11, 1958 at 8 00 p.m <br /> Present were Messrs Gustin, Cobb, Cole , Hutchins, <br /> Dearborn; Mesdames Litchfield, Pullen and Williams <br /> Mr Gustin read a letter of appreciation from <br /> Marcia Fone and Dale Fisher, 1958 United Nations <br /> Contest winners He read a letter from Mr Poshler <br /> asking for additional information concerning Mrs <br /> Biggs ' request for use of the high school auditorium <br /> for a Theater Guild play in connection with the April <br /> 19th celebration <br /> Mr Cobb turned over to Mrs Pullen a letter from <br /> Miss McIntyre in which she thanked the Committee for U N TRIP <br /> asking her to chaperone the United. Nations Contest <br /> winners on their. New York trip She gave permission for <br /> this letter to be published in the newspaper <br /> Mr Gustin read a letter from H Stanley <br /> Cullington , Director of Music of First Congregational <br /> Church, Woburn He asked whether ci not the Norwich <br /> University Band will be asked to participate in the <br /> April 19th parade <br /> Mr Gustin read a letter from Norwich. University NORWICH <br /> They thanked Mrs Litchfield for her letter offering BAND <br /> to send to Norwich the ;200 Band fee which was not paid <br /> in the Spring. <br /> Mr Gustin announced the purchase of rope for <br /> sse in rapig L,1.�: the- crowds in LsxtiSLun venter aur- mon; FOE <br /> ing parades He purchased the rope in two separate lots 19th <br /> 235 feet of new one- inch rope, $47 00; 1000 fest of one <br /> one-eighth inch. rope, S115 00 - total $162 00 Mr <br /> Gustin recommended that $40 be allotted to Mrs <br /> Litchfield for secretarial expenses next year Mr <br /> Gustin will ask Town Meeting for ,4000 for the Town <br /> Celebrations Committee budget for 1959-60 <br /> Yr Cole will report to Mr Gustin the exact <br /> amount of the janitor' s fee for the Thanksgiving service <br /> Mrs Pullen suggested that on future Thanksgiving <br /> programs , notations should be made to indicate the times <br /> when the congregation should stand Mr. Cole suggested <br /> lthat the Minute Men and other organizations might be in- <br /> vited to attend the Thanksgiving service as a group <br />
