169 <br /> TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> October 18 , 1958 <br /> The fifth meeting of the 1958-59 Town Cele- <br /> brations Committee was held in the Selectmen' s <br /> Room of the Town Office Building at 8 00 p.m Pre- <br /> sent were Messrs Gustin, Hutchins, Cole; Mesdames <br /> Litchfield, Pullen and Williams <br /> Because of the Cary Lecture on Thursday, <br /> October twenty-third, the next meeting of the Cele- THANKSGIVING <br /> brations Committee will be on Oct 30, 1958 Mr <br /> Bandes ( Jewish Community Center) , Father Casey <br /> ( Catholic) , Mr Taylor ( Protestant) , and Mr Wads- <br /> worth (Lexington. Council of Churches ) will be in- <br /> vited to that meeting to formulate final plans for <br /> the Thanksgiving Service <br /> Mrs. Litchfield reported that the Park De- <br /> partment will plant the tree at Adams School on <br /> Friday morning at the U N ceremony <br /> Mr Gustin reported that the Historic Dis- <br /> tricts Commission will have a hearing to approve <br /> the U N Tree-marking plaque on October twenty- <br /> fourth at 7 30 p.m <br /> Mr Cole restated that the Young People ' s <br /> groups of the churches should be notified of the <br /> Community Thanksgiving Service, immediately Mr <br /> Cole will ask Dr. Hunt to be the speaker on that <br /> occasion Mr Maloney will be asked to read the <br /> Governor' s Proclamation Mr Wadsworth. will be <br /> asked to get ushers <br /> Mrs Litchfield wrote to Mrs Biggs of the <br /> Theatre Guild Mrs Biggs and another member of <br /> that guild will come to a Celebrations Committee <br /> meeting Ncverber sixth was suggested as a suit- <br /> able time to invite them <br /> Mrs. Pullen reported that the Adams School <br /> U N Day program is planned A photographer will <br /> be there ; Mr Poehler will speak; members of the <br /> Committee are invited to attend and the Chairman of <br /> the Board of Selectmen will be invited <br /> Mr Cole had suggestions of possible bands <br /> for April nineteenth, and felt that ',re should begin APRIL 19th <br /> plans for that celebration right away.
