167 <br /> TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> ( October 9, 1958 <br /> The fourth meeting of the 1958-59 Town <br /> Celebrations Committee was held in the Selectmen' s <br /> Room of the Town Office Building at 8 00 p.m <br /> Present were Messrs Hutchins, Rooney, Cole, Mes- <br /> dames Pullen, Litchfield and Williams <br /> Mrs Litchfield reported for Mr Gustin Mr <br /> Warren will bring to the attention of the high school <br /> pupils the tree which was planted at the high school <br /> the Thanksgiving service; Mrs Sandberger is training <br /> the high school Glee Club and will be in charge of <br /> the music and organ for Thanksgiving; Mr Gustin sug- <br /> gested that men in the Council of Churches or men from <br /> the Town Celebrations Committee should usher at the <br /> Thanksgiving service; Mr Gustin has shown the 1958 <br /> plaque to Mr Charles Davis of the Historic District <br /> Commission and Mr Davis felt that a plaque like that <br /> would be acceptable to the Commission for marking the <br /> tree on Lexington Green The next hearing of the His- <br /> toric District Commission will be on October twenty- <br /> third. <br /> Mr Rooney reported: the Lions Club will go <br /> along with whatever the other service organizations ESSAY <br /> plan to do in connection with financing the United TRIP <br /> Nations Essay Contest trip Mr Rooney reported for <br /> Mr Dearborn that the Rotary Club has approved financ- <br /> ing the New York trip and will solicit the other or- <br /> ganizations for their share <br /> Mr. Cole reported that Mr George Wadsworth is <br /> the contact person for the Council of Churches Mr THANKSGIVING <br /> Cole reminded Mrs T a tnhfield_ to_ write- to the—Youth <br /> Groups of the churches to invite them to come to the <br /> Thanksgiving Community Service at the high school on <br /> the evening of November twenty-third Mr Cole sug- <br /> gested that three representatives of the Lexington <br /> clergy be invited to a Committee meeting, soon, to help <br /> formulate plans for the Thanksgiving service A repre- <br /> sentative of the Jewish. Community Center, a Catholic <br /> priest and a Protestant minister were mentioned as <br /> possibilities <br /> Mrs Pullen reported The United Nations Con- <br /> test was conducted at the high school , today Nine- U N CONTEST <br /> teen girls and nine boys participated; Miss McIntyre <br /> will chaperone the winners to New York They will go <br /> �._. to New York on the eight o'clock flight on Friday <br />
