107 <br /> TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> October 10,1957 <br /> The ninth meeting of the Town Celebrations <br /> Committee was held in the Conference Room, Cary Mem- <br /> orial Hall at 8 15 p.m , October 10, 1957 Members <br /> present Messrs Gustin, Poehler, Rooney, Cole, Mes- <br /> dames Pullen, Cheever, Litchfield. <br /> Joyce Taylor and Don Adzigian of the Junior U N. DAY <br /> High School met with the committee to make plans for <br /> observance of U N Day, October 24th. Mr Poehler <br /> has talked with Mr Norlin and they will select tree <br /> to be planted at the Junior High School. <br /> At 9 p.m. the following representatives of the <br /> churches in Lexington met with the committee to dis- THANKS- <br /> cuss plans for a Thanksgiving celebration: Rev GIVING <br /> Hogan, representing Rev George W Casey, St Brigid' s; <br /> Mr Herbert Bandes, Jewish Comminity Group; Mr Ken- <br /> neth L Warden, Lexington Cuuncil of Churches . Rev <br /> Francis J Murphy of Sacred Heart Church notified <br /> committee he could not attend, and will receive copy <br /> of these minutes <br /> ' Mr. Warden felt the service should be a com- <br /> munity effort, that as citizens we all had much to be <br /> grateful for, and hoped all churches would aprtici- <br /> pate this year. <br /> Everyone present agreed it should be held the <br /> Sunday evening before Thanksgiving, November 24, at <br /> 8 p.m , to last an hour Other years it has been <br /> held in Cary Memorial Hall, and an organ had to be <br /> rented. Mr Poehler suggested the new High Snhnnl <br /> Auditorium which has an organ Suggestion was unani- <br /> mously adopted, and Mr Poehler will make application <br /> Mr Poehler suggested Judge Felix Forte as <br /> speaker Others mentioned were Prep Nathan Pusey of <br /> Harvard, and Sen Kennedy It was agreed to ask <br /> Judge Forte <br /> Question of a choir was discussed, and it was <br /> decided to ask the Lexington Choral Society to take <br /> charge of the music .
