97 <br /> TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> September 5, 1957 <br /> The fourth meeting of the Town Celebrations <br /> Committee was held in the Conference Room, Cary <br /> Memorial Hall at 8 p.m September 5, 1957, withthe <br /> following members present Messrs Poehler, Lewis, <br /> Hutchins, Gustin and Rooney, Mesdames Cheever, <br /> Litchfield, and Pullen <br /> Minute of the last meeting were read by Mrs <br /> Pullen, who had acted as secretary <br /> Mr Rooney informed the committee he felt he ROONEY <br /> could not continue as chairmani and his resignation <br /> was accepted with regret Motion was made and RESIGNATION <br /> seconded that Mr Gus tin be made chairman Mr AS CHAIRMAN <br /> Gustin accepted and the motion was carried Other <br /> appointments remain the same Mr Gustin then con- <br /> ducted the meeting as chairman <br /> A definite meeting night was decided upon MEETING <br /> Thursdays seemed to be best for those present and NIGHTS <br /> the committee will meet each week at 8 15 p.m <br /> until further notice <br /> Mr Lewis reported that Father Casey of St <br /> Brigid' s church is willing to participate in a town- <br /> wide Thanksgiving service, but as all, churches <br /> could not be reached, no decision was made <br /> Mr Rooney was asked to obtain a current list <br /> of all organizations in Lexington <br /> Plans for U N Day, Oct 2L , were discussed U N DAY <br /> with Mr Poehler, chairman. The committee approved <br /> purchase of a film strip, "Man' s Three Basic Needs", <br /> cost $6, to be made available to all schools Mr <br /> Poehier will bring projector to next meeting for <br /> showing of film to committee members He will also <br /> check tree planted last U N Day to see if placque <br /> is placed. Mr Poehier will also ask Mr Warren to <br /> ask the Student Council to appoint two of their <br /> members to this committee <br /> U N contest was suggested as possible means <br /> of bringing publicity to U N Day If funds could <br /> be found, a three day trip to the U N for the winning <br /> boy and girl was mentioned After screening of essays <br /> Mr Poehler suggested that the five <br />
