83 <br /> TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> April 4, 1957 <br /> The seventeenth meeting of the Town Celebra- <br /> tions Committee was held at 8 p.m , April 4, 1957 <br /> in the Conference Room, Cary Memorial Hall Those <br /> present were Messrs Poehler, Albertine, Gustin, <br /> Hutchins, Gagne, and Mrs Cheever and Mrs Litchfield. <br /> Mr Gustin read report of the Town Celebrations <br /> Committee which was presented by Mr Gustin at the town APRIL 19th <br /> meeting April 1, 1957 Copy is attached and is a part <br /> of these records <br /> A new stand will be available for this April <br /> 19th, as the one used last year cannot be found Mr <br /> Gustin said the new stand will be 3 ft wide and 6 ft <br /> tong The committee will buy the lumber, and the Pub- <br /> lic Works Department will provide the labor The <br /> stand will be the property of the Town Celebrations <br /> Committee Mr Gustin has already talked to Mr Richard <br /> Gayer, and the secretary was instructed to write Mr <br /> Gayer confirming this arrangement <br /> Mrs Cheever was asked to contact Street Stuart <br /> of WBZ in regard to cancelling parade in case of rain <br /> Mr Poehler will make arrangements with Adams and Munroe <br /> schools to have them open in the morning <br /> Police Department will be contacted regarding <br /> advisability of having a cruiser at the end of the <br /> parade It was felt this would eliminate non-partici- <br /> pants from joining, as has happened in other years <br /> Mr Gustin told the committee that he had re- <br /> ceived a call from Capt Dow, in charge of Sery Bat <br /> 301, F A Bat , 94th Div relative to their participa- <br /> tion in the parade They had been invited to come to <br /> the meetings of the committee, held Feb 20 and March <br /> 7, open to all groups wishing to participate No one <br /> from that organization came, and no word was received <br /> from them afterwards <br /> Capt Dow was unable to attend but told Mr <br /> Gustin he was sending Lt Silva to represent him Lt <br /> Silva was told the roster of the parade had already <br /> been made up, and there was a question on the part of <br /> the committee where to put this unit Lt Silva re- <br /> ported they would probably have 15 men, and were <br /> anxious to march. <br />
